Farm CL Heaven

Stayed on here for 5 days after a week at a busy and hectic York Rowntree. Originally we were booked at Dykes Bottom Farm but they were closed when we arrived due to self isolating. They told us to try out luck at Shutt Nook and our luck was in as the friendly owners were happy to accommodate us on spec! What a find... We had a superb 5 nights here. The site is really spacious and due to its location the views over the Nidd Valley and beyond are panoramic and spectacular - the sunset over the Dales is something to behold. The site itself is well kept with weed-free, well mowed lawns and being a working farm has cows and sheep on all of the surrounding fields to keep you company. They have free-roaming hens who will pay you a visit and the HUGE free range eggs they produce, which the farmer sells are some of the best we've ever had. The farmer is a really helpful and friendly chap - once he knew we had dogs he allowed us to let them free roam on his "spare" field which had no livestock on. You are not short of things to do - Harrogate is the obvious draw but it there is so much more. Pateley Bridge, Knaresborough and Ripon are close and would recommend a drive into the dales and around the reservoirs for some more picture perfect scenery. With or without four legged friends the site is great for walking miles and miles. Hampwsthwaite at the bottom of the hill has a handy shop-cum-cafe and the Joiners Arms next to it has amazing food and one of the best pints of Timothy Taylor's Landlord I've ever tasted! Closer to the site is The Nelson Inn, which is less than 5 minutes walk away and can be safely reached by using the footpath that passes though the site. This is a family friendly pub/restaurant. Cannot recommend this CL enough - if planning to stay in the area it should be top of the list. We'll certainly be back...
