Windy March Weekend at Slade Paddock

The CL is easy to find, and access is good, electric gate operated by mobile phone. We were pitched on the hard standing in the yard as the CL field was not use, ground was too wet. Trevor, the owner was on hand when we arrived to advise on pitching and where everything was, he had also laid some matting to pitch on, we were also given a jar of homemade chutney. ☺ The site has a lovely warm , clean toilet and shower block and a washing machine and sink. The grass CL area also looked very good, with nice views across the fields. We weren't lucky enough to see the Owl, but had sightings of Kestrels and Red Kites. The local village, five minutes walk away has a nice friendly pub which does pizza to take away or eat in. There is also a regular bus service from the village. There is a good dog walk just opposite the site entrance, which also leads to the village for a circular walk. The village doesn't have a shop, but there is a farm shop just a couple of miles away, and a shop and PO in Mepal. We visited NT Wicken Fen and Houghton Mill, Ely is worth a visit too. Only negative was that there was some early morning noise from the lorries leaving the yard on week days but was quiet at the weekend.
