Had a one night stopover heading home from the New Forest. Just 2 miles from Penrith Centre. Fantastic facilities for £8.50.Easy to find but if your approaching gate from the left you may need to take care as access a little narrow. Owner very helpful, lovely views.
A lovely site
This site is beautifully laid out with well spaced gravel hardstandings. It is very convenient for a stopover, being approximately 2 miles from the M6 Motorway, although there is no noise from this on the site. The village pub serves good food and is friendly.
Motorhome owners need a long hose to fill water tanks and may need a hose for discharge of grey water. At £8.50 this CL is a bargain.
A Little Gem
My wife & I have stayed here many times before and as I say in the title it's "A Little Gem" Mr Cooper and his family are always very helpful and kind. The views of the hills on the far side of Ullswater are magnificent - Although it's a little compact it's well worth a visit - but perhaps I'm shooting myself in the foot by singing the praises of the CL but it's a treasure that should be shared! :)
A perfect start to our holiday
We were booked in at Low Manesty site (now Borrowdale) on the Saturday, and as we had a long drive to get there we thought we'd book a CL a couple of days in advance which would extend the holiday as well as allowing a nice early arrival at Low Manesty. We were genuinely really impressed by this cracking little site, which has fantastic views and is very quiet despite being not far from the M6 motorway junction. Several other visitors were regulars and there was a really welcoming atmosphere amongst the owner, the regulars and ourselves. Incredibly cheap, immaculately kept, in an ideal location for access to the Lakes.
A beautiful site
A lovely peaceful site for a relaxing stay. Five minutes drive from Penrith and a good base for visiting the northern lakes, Good pub meals in Stainton, a nice ten minute walk from the site.
We have been using this site for over twenty years, until I wrote this revue the best kept secret in the CC cl book. The views from the site down to Ulswater alone are worth going for and the cost per night is about the cheapest in the book, at £4 a night and 20 pence for an awning to site your caravan on one of the best lawned CLs I have ever been on takes some beating.
