Lovely Slate Hall CL

This was our first caravan holiday and unfortunately we chose a very wet weekend to stay at Slate Hall (Easter 2018). Even though it was incredibly wet, Slate Hall has hard standing areas and we had the whole site to ourselves. We downloaded the pdf directions from the site and it had directions to the wrong destination! We rang and spoke to Rosina who was very helpful and gave us the correct postcode (thankfully!). On arrival we were greeted by Mike who was friendly and helpful (offering to reverse our caravan in for me!). Shower and toilet area were very clean although maybe the shower head could do with replacing or there was a lack of water pressure. This didn't ruin our stay though and we had a fabulous time and we were really pleased we chose this site as our first holiday. (ps great location for dog walkers... the walks along the river Stour are lovely!)

Top Notch

Recently spent a few nights here, and would quite happily have stayed a lot longer. Small amount of aircraft noise from Stansted, but so unobtrusive I had to point it out to my Mrs. Beautifully kept pitching area with enough room for a dozen vans or more, so everybody gets plenty of space. Great views over adjoining farmland and plenty of dog walks nearby. Lots of small towns and pretty villages within easy reach, with all the shops you might need (in particular, a little independent wine shop on the road towards Clare-highly recommended) All in all a wonderful little site, and if we're ever in that area again I don't think we need to consider any others.

Excellent site with lovely owners

We spent nine nights here visiting relatives along with some sightseeing. Nicely kept quiet site, spotless facilities. Very welcoming and helpful owners. Will definitely stay here when we are next in the area.

Quiet outlook across rolling farmland

This is our first CL site we have stayed at. We were only here for a couple of days and this is about 20 miles from where we live.  We was greeted by a sweet elderly couple, who explained where everything was, then let us go and find a nice quiet pitch. The couple then left us to relax the view and tranquility. Even though we was only 20 miles from home, we felt as if we was a lot further.  Slate Hall was set in a nice area for rolling hills for cycling to nearby towns like Saffron Walden or Clare.  Showers and toilets were very clean. Plenty of water tap around the quaint site.  We will be returning again for a nice chilled out weekend.  Thank you

Has It All

Stayed at Slate Hall for a week in August 2015. Mrs Ramsey provided a friendly welcome on arrival and was at home for enquiries when needed, but never imposed. Site is slightly sloping but very well maintained, as are the shower & toilet (new loo rolls every day and cleaned daily too). CL is surrounded by mature trees which offer very effective weather protection. Views from all sides of the site with stunning sun sets most evenings. Will definitely return and highly recommend.

Beautiful site

We stayed here 2 nights last week but wished we could have stayed longer, it's a lovely peaceful site and we had only 1 neighbour who waved each morning, you do hear the pigs but it's a working farm so you have to expect that and it didn't bother us in the slightest, the view from our grass pitch was stunning.

Cracking Site

This is our second visit here, the first in December 2013 was on a hard standing pitch near the toilet so did not see the main field then. The site is a gentle slope of perfectly manicured grass.  Tap on each pitch, easy access.  Did not meet the owners so had to post the fee through the door but that is not a problem. Heated toilet and shower, did not use the shower but it looked OK.

It is a working farm so there is inevitably some noise but except for Saturday morning we were there it was minimal.  Depend on the wind direction there may also be some country smells but we were not affected at the bottom of the site.
