Super!

An easy approach off the main road, through the farmyard to a lovely CL. The pitches are large, mostly hard standing, with plenty of grass alongside to sit in good weather. There is a very pretty stream that runs through the site with daffodils and primroses along the bank, which is delightful. There are plenty of fresh water taps and the waste facilities are very good. The owner is very friendly and helpful and sells delicious eggs from his own hens. We spent four nights and will definitely be back again.

Lovely little site and friendly helpful owner.

We booked this little CL for its proximity to a cycle route we will be taking from Lands End to John o Groats in September. We needed to practice some of the hills! We arrived early evening and phoned the owner to let him know we were there. He said to make ourselves at home and he would come and see us in the morning. All of the pitches were lovely, with plenty of space around them. Although access was through a yard it was quiet and very private. We stayed for 4 nights and had the site to ourselves for the first three. As promised, next morning Lindsay and his dog paid us a visit. When we told him of our planned cycle ride for the day he gave us his business card in case we needed a lift home! He was also able to give us other local information and possible cycle rides for us. We loved this little CL. Lots of effort has gone into keeping it tidy and private. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. Owner Lindsay was very friendly and we loved his dog!

April 2022 visit

Lovely site , I wouldn’t say there a a bad pitch. Well landscaped and you can buy eggs from the chooks that happily cluck behind the site. A warm friendly welcome and lots of local knowledge shared . We visited the leaping salmon pub about a 15 minute walk to Horrabridge which is beautiful . Local craft ales ..: beware the walk home is uphill and quite steep so go easy on the ale. We walked to Tavistock cross country which was stunning , the majority of the walk is along an old railway line (cycle path 27) it is a 10 mile round trip . We would return in a heartbeat .

Peaceful site with friendly owner's.

We arrived on the site late(ish) on the Friday night and were greeted with a warm welcome by the owner who showed us to the pitch and even sorted out the hook up (longer lead needed). We were greeted each day by the owner who asked if we needed anything and would have a good chat about the area. We were advised by him of a great walk across the moors to The Merrivale Inn, you just could not ask for more. Site is clean, spacious with hardstanding pitches and wonderfully landscaped. We will return

Oversubscribed and booking not honoured

We arrived to find 9 outfits on site and no space for us. The booking made by telephone was not honoured and no one was available to help us on arrival. No one in the bungalow and not answering the phone. The site was breaking CL rules and over crowded. In the end we were probably lucky to have to go elsewhere.

Will return

This is a beautifully kept CL with a choice of grass and hardstanding pitching areas. It is very pleasant just to be on the site. To access it you do need to pass through a yard where there is a working garage and from where there is some noise in the daytime but we did not find this intrusive. The overall feel to the site is of peace, quiet and seclusion. There is a walk from the site through the fields on to the moor as well as good access to Tavistock and Dartmoor. It is a good base from which to explore and good value, too.

Edge of the Moor

Located on the edge of Dartmoor, this terraced site is roughly midway between Tavistock and Yelverton and is very handy for visiting Dartmoor. Access is not too difficult for large outfits from the main A386 road but do follow the site's directions and not a sat nav. On approach drive slowly, the turning on the brow of a hill onto a surfaced but rough farm track and through a yard is easily missed. The site is well kept and welcoming. Pitches are a mix of hard standings and grass. Supermarkets are available a short 2 mile away on the approach into Tavistock and there are pubs and a village store if you descend into Horrabridge but be prepared for a steep return journey. Would we use this site again, yes.

A REAL TONIC

Just had a wonderful fortnight with Mr Rodgers at this hidden gem of a CL. The site is extremely well kept and has a very relaxed atmosphere which having just had surgery was just what the doctor ordered. The owners are extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Great to also see someone not trying to make a quick buck after all the Covid restrictions ending as prices haven’t gone up a penny. Regarding previous comments on noise, yes you do get some but not enough to disturb your stay and it’s a working farm after all. The fresh eggs are lovely and often still warm and the hens have a great place to live. The site also has private access directly onto Dartmoor and great cycling on Drake’s Trail accessible from the village. We have already booked for later in the year.

BEWARE

A few months ago, booked this site for 11 nights (have stayed before a few years ago). On Monday 28th June, emailed to check all in order and that the pitch we booked would be available and was informed all in order. Said we would arrive at teatime on 1 July (had been at hospital). Arrived at 5.30 to find the site completely full with 7 vans and our pitch taken. The owner turned up and said he had given our pitch to another couple as he felt sorry for them. He said he could put us on a bit of grass by the toilet emptying/entrance and washing line! We could not even put our waste water container under the van as not enough room. People were back n fore emptying their toilets. It was too late that eve to move off and try and find anywhere else. Husband rang around and a commercial site were able to fit us in although would be more expensive. Absolutely furious to have had our long awaited break ruined in this way. As it is, there were too many vans - 7 instead of the 5 as per CL licences. Beware, even if you book you are not guaranteed your pitch. Also, the car bodyshop at the entrance start work at 8 am.
