Lovely stay

Just had three nights at this lovely site. Owners friendly and welcoming. Flat grass pitches, excellently kept and maintained and good size. Peaceful surroundings, will definitely be back. Thank you 🙂

Why wasn't this site absolutely full?!

We couldn't understand how we could be the only people staying at this site for the 3 days we were here. We came to the conclusion that other members of the M & CC must: not like level pitches not want carefully mowed grass with all the grass clippings removed (quite important when it rains, which it did) not want to be in the middle of stunning countryside with a footpath literally running alongside the site not want to be near quiet country lanes for cycling in the Devonshire countryside (did I mention that it's stunning scenery?) not enjoy tranquillity and peace (you couldn't hear any road noise) not like helpful and friendly hosts. It was the only thing we could think of to explain us having the site to ourselves. Lucky us!! We're not complaining.

Far from the madding crowds

A wonderful, back to basics, working farm CL. All the necessary services close to hand, wherever you pitch. Very well maintained compact site, yet with large pitches and space between you and neighbours to allow privacy. Walks from site and close to many areas of interest without having to drive to far afield. Owners very friendly and helpful with good local knowledge. Excellent village shop and PO, Chrchinford, that sell a custom made OS map with them as the central point (excellent idea as you are on the cusp of all the general OS maps of the area) making map reading a doddle. Coming soon to hire is a Shepherds hut, two birth in its own wee paddock area with wonderful views, small bath jacuzzi and fire pit, well worth a look. We will be back to explore further.

Good VFM CL in an area of outstanding natural beauty

We spent 10 days here at Southerly View its location is set on the plateau of the Blackdown Hills Its quiet a flat area for cycling there are 3 WW2 airfields set up there. We booked this area because of the walking and cycling and were not disappointed. We looked at Southerly View on Google Earth and it didn't look up to much .......However we were really pleased and surprised, the grass surface was lawn like I wish my lawn at home was half as good. The start of our stay was quite windy and we could hear the local raceway set at one of the airfields till quite late at night when they held a race weekend the sound was carried on the wind some 2 miles I must point out this is not every weekend. The rest of our stay was peaceful. We thought it was very reasonable at £10 pn inc EHU. The owners are very friendly and even came to check we were OK during the one stormy day we had. We enjoyed our stay here and would certainly return if we are in the area and again pitch on that carpet like grass pitches

Classic CL

We have I've just spent bank holiday weekend at this CL. A very friendly welcome and interesting area. It's great place to get away from it all, various walks are available from site, is great for dogs. The CL is based on a former United States air force base. You can even overnight on the base of a anti aircraft gun emplacement. Small local museum nearby was closed due to covid-19. I had a great view of a Goldcrest (uk's smallest bird) which was feeding in the conifer hedge. Good value
