Peace & tranquility

Just had another great overnight stay at Spruce Gill. A peaceful and very scenic CL site whether pitched in the field or the orchard. Adequate showers and WCs on site. Plenty of magazines and tourist information leaflets available. As previous reviewers have pointed out, there are a few potholes on the lane leading to the site but this is a working farm so to be expected and certainly doesn't put us off. The ducks and the piglets near the bridge were very inquisitive and there were various pheasants and grouse around. Finghall is a quiet picturesque village with the Queens Head pub, a nice 10 mins stroll from site. We stay at Spruce Gill a 2 - 3 times a year and have never experienced any problems. We will be back!

Disappointing

After reading reviews I was expecting better from this CL. The drive up to the site has really big potholes so recommend you drive with care. We were met by other site users who pointed us to our pitch. To my disappointment we were not in the CL Field where it had fantastic views we were allocated a pitch in the orchard under trees in the shade and next to a small bank despite a pitch next to us in full sun all day long. When we met Mrs Smith she informed us that if we had a lot of rain it could puddle out due to the bank which sure enough after rain all day it did which was not good with a dog as started to get muddy. We stayed 5 nights I think the CL field is for ppl who stay 7 nights or more. Can’t fault the facilities or location and it’s very peaceful but why we were allocated that spot I’ll never know and it spoilt our stay to be honest. We won’t be returning.

This should be a fabulous sight

Access is good but the driveway needs attention as there are a number of holes that can be mostly avoided. The sight has fantastic views and the facilities are very good. Unfortunately, the weather was bad during our stay and the whole pitch was waterlogged. Despite this, we had some fantastic walks in the area but the sight was the muddiest part of Yorkshire. There was a septic tank in the field with us and the owner was rodding it suggesting this is an on going problem. If it has been dry for a couple of weeks prior to your stay and if it doesn't rain too much, the sight will be great. As a club member for over 10 years, and having stayed on many CLs, we will visit Yorshire again, but will not stay here.

Peaceful Break

Just spent 2 nights at Spruce Gill at our first CL and only 2nd trip away in our caravan! Beautiful, well maintained site with spotless facilities. Lovely pitch with views across Yorkshire countryside. Sadly did not meet the owners, their young pigs just over the bridge were a joy though! We will be back, thoroughly enjoyed our time here

Immaculate, well run site

Peaceful site with uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside. Well-levelled pitches with plenty of space to pitch. Immaculately clean toilets and showers. Walking distance to Finghall Station with views over the line. Will be back when the steam trains resume service.

Peaceful site with beautiful scenery

Very peaceful site with lovely scenery. Good facilities and immaculately clean. Lots of places to visit locally and easy to get to. We stayed for five nights and really enjoyed it. We will return to this site.

Wished we could have stayed longer............

We used this CL as a stopover for two nights on our way to Cumbria/Northumberland. It was absolutely lovely. Upon returning from our holiday, both the Other Half and myself agreed that whilst all three CL sites on which we stayed were really good, this one was our favourite. As I said, we only stayed two nights, but we will be back to stay longer in the future, of that you can be sure.

One of the best

I don't really want to write this review as I don't want to find this CL fully booked the next time we want to visit! This CL is up there with the best! Spacious, welcoming, immaculately kept outside and in the facilities, plus very well priced. Amazing views (when it isn't raining!) And lots to to in the local area for families. Will not hesitate to return here.
