A great stopover

The site was easy to book by email with very prompt replies. It's £13 per night including EHU and WiFi. We did not use the showers or toilets. Flat field behind the scout hut. Walking distance to the Spread Eagle in one direction and The Jinnie in the other. We walked to Tutbury and caught the Villager bus back. I would say it's essential to book as the hall hosts functions that can affect availability. We would use this site again.

Lovely little CL

Just got back from our first stay at this lovely little CL site. Short walk to a couple of nice pubs in Rollerston on Dove. Handy bus stop just outside useful if you want to explore Derby or Burton on Trent. Field is quite level and all grass, the hard standing is the car park I believe. Five hook up points, two in the field and three on the back of the scout HQ. Field is a very good size for just five caravans. Loos and showers are in the Scout building behind a combination lock door, two toilets and one shower in both male and female (if the scouts are in you only have assess to the male facilities). Water points all turned off apart one on the back of the Scout HQ (Is was March so probably afraid of frozen pipes). Had a great time, only criticism would be that the flood lights on the back of the Scout HQ were left on very late, possibly all night (bring thick curtains!), would have preferred to do a little star gazing. Some may prefer the security offered by the bright lights. Difficult to contact Jo on the number above, messages left were not answered and never got a reply to the email I sent, did however manage to find the number of a very helpful chap called Graham on the Rollerston Scouts own website.

We loved it!

Our first visit to a CL site. We were very impressed with the village of Rolleston on Dove. It must be a nice place to live. Why did we like it so much? 1) Flat pitches and better than expected facilities. 2) Bus stop outside of the front gate. We visited both Burton and Derby on the same day using the £10 'all day' duo pass. Both places were friendly and worth a look. We could have visited Nottingham, Matlock, Bakewell and many more interesting towns using the same ticket. (not bad for a fiver each!) 3) Very handy for Lichfield. (Lichfield has to be one of England's best places to visit.) We expect to be back.

Great CL which is incredibly secure!

We stayed at the Scout HQ CL to attend a party in a neighbouring village. The CL is only a 5 minute drive off the A38 and is behind a large Scout building which you enter through their car park. There are two gates with combination padlocks on each. On our arrival both gates were locked and the driveway prior to the gate is not big enough to fit a car and caravan on thus I just pulled over on Station Rd until the gates were opened by my husband. If you are planning a stay there look out for the Jinnie Pub on the right and the CL will be just a short distance passed it on the same side. The CL is large and level. The pitches are well spaced even if a little hard to work out where they all are! There are three obvious electricity points and the other two are mounted on the back wall of the scout building. The facilities are within the building and consist of a shower cubicle each within the ladies and gents toilets. Once you have booked you will receive an email giving you the codes to access the gates/building but be mindful that this may be directed into your spam/bulk e-mails as ours was! We did not notice any road noise as the site is set well back from the road and it is a peaceful site surrounded by countryside. Rolleston-on-Dove is a lovely village with a couple of nice pubs and there certainly is plenty to see in the area. Tutbury some 3 miles away is another pretty village, with the city of Lichfield only half an hours drive and the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas about 20 minutes drive. We had a nice stay and will be returning.

Tracing ancestry

A very pleasant field situated behind the Scout building, adjacent to a working farm. Unfortunately the site was wet during our visit so we parked on the hard standing adjacent to the building which was not quite as pleasant. The toilets and showers are an added bonus. The village of Rolleston is a lovely with a small river running through the centre. The Rolleston Club in the village offers excellent refreshments during the day to visitors, with a very friendly atmosphere. The Spread Eagle is an olde worlde pub in the village but we enjoyed a meal at The Jinny, just 5 min walk from the site. An hourly bus service to Burton - Uttoxeter stops just outside the site.

lovely site, yes the locks are a pain but it keeps the site secure. Nice big level field, lots to do and see and lovely walks.

All we expected

We had a short break at Rolleston-on-Dove Scout Group site last week, and found it lived up to the expectations we had having read good reviews from others. Good level site with excellent facilities, set in an attractive village just a couple of miles from Burton-on-trent, with lots of sites of interest close by, and good pubs and shops locally. Only two adverse comments: 1- the combination locks on the two access gates took some fiddling to open them - and, on departure, the access road was too small to accomodate our car and 'van, which meant we were parked half in and half out on a bend as we tried to lock the gates.

Excellent for the Peaks

We stayed here for two nights in March 2015.  Within striking distance of the Peaks via Ashbourne and some very lovely countryside around.  Rolleston is very lovely and there is local interest in Tutbury too.  Nice spacious site with the added bonus of a toilet and shower block.  All hook up on the field.  Will stay again.

A Cracking Place

We arrived expecting something akin to a car park with grass and lots of scout activity seeing as its located behind the local scout HQ. We couldn't have been more wrong. It has a lovely scenic setting with views across open countryside and freshly cut grass with plenty of room between each pitch. Added to that is a location in a peaceful village with a good choice of pubs, walks and cycle rides, once you've parked up you hardly need to drive anywhere. The peace is added to because of the dog ban so no yapping canines which can be a curse at some sites. The icing on the cake is that the money goes to benefit the scouts.
