Great little spot near Ramsgate

Just back from a week at this site. Very friendly welcome from groundsman Brian, and nicely kept site. The golf club was very friendly with excellent beers and good coffee - loved sitting outside the club house chatting and listening to the birds. Showers good and strong, very clean, and open from 8 AM to 9 PM which was more than adequate. The main advantage for us with this site is the location, just a short walk from Pegwell Bay country park with stunning walks along the coast, past the disused hoverport, and into Ramsgate, which is a beautiful town with some great restaurants. You can easily walk it in a couple of hours, and catch a breakfast at the excellent Viking cafe about half way (beans on toast £3.) Road access is excellent with quick access to Margate, the big new shopping centres (Lidl, Primark, etc.). Had a day in Canterbury which was lovely. Yes, there's a bit of road noise from the main road a short distance away, but it's really just swooshing and didn't bother me one bit. Each pitch has its own water tap which is a nice touch. Very dog friendly, which is nice. Main thing is the place felt well looked after and everyone was friendly. We're definitely coming back as we love this part of England.

OK as a stop over

Stayed recently, location is primarily a golf course with large carpark and the entrance to the caravan site half way down the carpark on the left hand side by a large fence panel. The site is narrow with all pitches on the same side. It is better if you can enter then reverse onto your pitch, although that is hampered by the turning circle being blocked by a golf course van! There is an additional pitch on the right hand side, taking the pitch numbers to 6??? Water is located on every pitch, which is convenient, but we did notice a strange taste from the water during our stay. The site is not scenic by any means, with high trees blocking any view. Recycling area seems confusing with little clear labelling. Waste disposal point is raised which is easier on the back for emptying the toilet, but perhaps a little high to empty the waste water container when full! Reception area is not very clear when you arrive and the golf club house was very disorganised with priority being given to those playing golf!!! The club house is only open certain hours which means that the toilets and shower advertised are limited usage due to timings and a fair walk from the site itself. There is alot of noise from the roads adjacent and near to the golf club which can be clearly heard quite early in the morning. There also seemed to be alot of maintenance and activity being done prior to 9am on many mornings whether that be sanding from 7:30am, mowing before 9am and even the noisy bin lorry arriving! OK for a stop over, but being honest, we won't be back.

An interesting site

We spent a couple of night here recently, mainly to visit Reculver and Sandwich. Access was easy. The site web site makes no pretence that this is a scenic site - it isnt. In that respect the photo is absolutely accurate - you are surrounded by hedges - but plenty of birds, watched the goldfinches pulling dandelion "clocks" apart! Our welcome and booking in at Reception went smoothly, and we were shown to our pitch. All staff were friendly. You can pitch whichever way round you want. There is a slight slope - we did need to use levelling blocks. There is road noise - but it was quiet overnight. Despite that - it felt a very relaxing site. We didnt use any of the Club house facilities. There is plenty to do and see in the area. We would use the site again if in the area.

Stayed over the New Year, the usual friendly welcome. Very muddy but Brian the Warden couldn’t do enough to help us 😀 Be back soon.

Returning Campers

Have returned a few times now and have always enjoyed our stay. Staff friendly, showers immaculate. Food good in the Clubhouse. Great for the Golf and Cycle Routes.

The Good The Bad and the Ugly

One member stated could not fault but would not return, I could,nt understand this until I arrived, the site consists of a grass strip(neatly mowed) length of caravan and room for five pitches and room for a further two on a piece of scrub, tall hedge front and back no view, a hundred metre trek across golf car park to showers (closed at 9pm), traffic noise from bypass 24 hrs, one day a digger severed a main electric cable no power for 6 hours no one informed us or offered help, I do consider £15 per night a bit expensive I will not be returning. It may appear that I am moaning I just think it is well to explain and then make your own mind up.

Good facilities very clean. Friendly staff and great golf facilities if you play. Lots of places of interest and Viking trail nearby - will definitely come again.

Thanet Getaway

Stayed for 4 days end of March 14 to enable us to visit the Thanet area.  Drinking water and EHU for each van, very convenient.  Showers in Club house are spotless and warm though the mens could have done with some form of seating.  Location ideal for Whitstable, Broadstairs, Canterbury etc. but  CL sited next to busy main road, so traffic noise 24/7. Site entails a small sloping grassed area enclosed by trees, hence no view. Though we had a nice stay, we probably wouldnt return to this one.

Nice site with fantastic facilities

Just back from a week here. The site is basically a strip of grass between two rows of trees, one edging a road. The road was not busy though. However, there is a major road nearby so there was some road noise. The facilities in the Golf Club were absolutely top notch. I have to say they were the best CL facilities I have ever used. It was no problem going through the golf club to use them. Well placed for visiting all the surrounding areas. Would definitely stay again.
