Above And Beyond

This was a unexpected chance booking. On our way to Scotland and decided to leave an extra day to the journey. Looked for a site near to the M6 around Wigan. Found Stoney Leach Nursery CL. They unexpectedly had a cancellation so booked for the night. In my haste to copy the directions to the site stupidly screen shot the wrong CL site, then after asking directions, given three different routes all not suitable with caravans. Phoned the site in desperation. The owner could not have helped more dispute the poor phone coverage and multiple calls, established we were miles away. He drove to where we were and led us tot he site and could not have done more to make us feel welcome and hide my shame. Moral- Check details given by site owners before leaving and follow them. A lesson learned and endorsed by my wife when she has calmed down enough to speak to me again. The site is small, quiet and beautifuly cared for. If you are lucky enough to find a space well worth a visit.

A great little CL

A lovely site with extremely friendly owners. The site is secured by a chain and lock and you are given a key so that you can come and go whenever you like. The site is well situated off the M6, although you can hardly hear it from the site, and is within easy reach of a number of centres of interest. All the pitches are hard standing. We loved our stay and we'll be back next year!

Excellent little CL

This is our 1sr experience of a CL and access to sites like this are the reason we joined CAMC. This site is peaceful and quiet and the setting is lovely. It's so quiet at night. We were greeted when we arrived and given a key to the gate then left to our own devices after this. The site is set in the grounds of a nursery with enough space for the dog to have a good run. Access was easy. We will return

Beautiful stopover site

We have used this sites a few times on our way south from Scotland to England. Very easy access from the motorways and you wouldn’t believe it was so close as very little noise. Site is beautifully landscaped and very peaceful. It also has recycling facilities. Think it would be handy for using as a base to visit Merseyside and other places nearby. A great find

One of the best CLs on the network

We stayed here from 18 April 2021 for 4 nights. What a lovely, well laid out and well maintained site. Everything is what you expect in a perfect site. Well maintained and easy to use. The owners have even provided hand sanitiser in multiple places. Views are brilliant, lots of wildlife including wrens, pheasant, squirrels. Good walks on well marked footpaths. Short walk into the village where there are buses into Wigan and Preston every hour (Route 113). The owners are pleasant and helpful. The site is locked day and night, and you are given a key. Toogood Farm Shop half a mile away. Well stocked with bread, chilled and frozen foods, and much more. Good phone signal (useful as a Hotspot for internet) and TV signal - you can see Winter Hill. And all for £14 a night. Doesn't get better than this. We will be back.

Wow Amazing site

Just back from one great weekend at this site. Great welcome and showed where our pitch was. The owner was so friendly. Great nursery, we walked around on our last day and bought some plants. A great base for many a good walk. We went into Wigan, nice town and great shops. Eat in the local White Lion (fab) and a nice walk to and from. We stayed on pitch 5. The weather and view was amazing and an absolute pleasure to bbq in the sun in such lovely surroundings after lock-down. A gem of a site and can’t wait to go back . Thank you Mr Basford we thoroughly enjoyed it. Hazel Taylor April 18th 2021.

What a lovely site

We stayed here for 4 nights in late October. We didn't have the best of weather but we enjoyed some great days out from here. It's a lovely site, well maintained. and managed. All pitches are hard standing and very easy to access. All the usual facilities in place and good COVID compliance. We found it very handy for the nursery which was adjacent. There are plenty of places to visit and things to see and do that are not too far away. Fairy Glen near Parbold Wigan and its Pier, Ormskirk & it's market all well worth a visit. Plenty to do further afield. Its extremely good value for money. We used the White Lion for a meal out - less thant 10 mins by car.

A little gem

Stayed here 2 nights November. Friendly owners and great facilities. Nice walks and a few pubs within a mile. Great if you like walking like us. Probably need a car to eat out in the winter due to lanes not being very well lit. A little gem.

Bliss

First visit to this superb CL. Beautifully laid out pitches and hedges, each pitch very private. Spacious with grass sitting area. Everything clean and tidy. Lovely nursery with some lovely well priced plants. Owners are very helpful and informative. We will definitely be back.

One to return to

This was a perfect site for visiting the local area. The hosts were welcoming and helpful and it was a delight to be on a level quiet and clean pitch, nicely presented and with well maintained facilities. Food at the local ‘white swan’ pub was excellent. We will return! Thank you and God bless you.
