We stayed here at Stoney Leys for 9 days in perfect weather
Upon our arrival we were amazed by the size of the site the grass was cut lawn like and although a bit slope in places its easy enough to level, mind you there are plenty of flat areas too.Picking a slightly sloping area you can isolate yourself well.
Very friendly owners who know the area and always up for a chat
Its quite an open site and thus great for solar panel power as there is no EHU during our summer stay we had a fully charged battery each day
We will certainly be returning to this site without question
Open for visitors
Stayed at Stoney Leys just after re-opening and it was a nice quiet site perfect for getting away. Plenty of space in the field, and easy access to local attractions although the main tourist areas can be busy on a weekend.
Local pub about 1 mile away open with booking reservations.
Well recommended
Adverse travels in Herne Bay
The site is in a very large, almost flat field which is very well mown. There are no facilities or electric but this didn't bother us. There is fresh drinking water, grey waste disposal and a chemical disposal point which was very clean and tidy. It is a beautiful, peaceful site which allows dogs on leads. The site is all grass pitches with no hardstanding but you can pitch anywhere you like. There is a pub about 1/4 mile from the site well within walking distance. I can't comment on it as we didn't go in at this time. This site is really handy for our Son and grandson so we will be using it often. Sainsbury's supermarket is about 1 1/2 miles from the site and has a fuel station too. The owners are really friendly and very laid back. A really pleasant stopover.
Peaceful retreat for exploring Kent coastline
Very friendly welcome from the site owners who offer a very well kept large CL. We would call it a field, but it is so well mown it is more of a lawn, slightly sloping in the centre, but so many spots to pitchup. No EHU but very open and sunny so our solar panel kept us going for 5 days. The most popular was pitching alongside some fencing close to the water, refuse and CDP, all very neat and tidy but we tried two spots, firstly across near the 2 pigs they have, who live a life of luxury. They also have chickens, all animals are neatly fenced in a private area, but you can see them. We also saw the famous parakeets fly over on a number of occasions. Due to wind and rain we then moved to an even more sheltered corner, and that gave us a great view over the site and towards the countyrside. We have dogs and there are plenty of footpaths out and about, and we soon found a good nearly 2 mile loop for the morning outing.
It is a great spot for visiting for example Herne Bay, Margate, Ramsgate and close to the A299 for travelling. Maypole Lane is a rat run, so best avoided before 9am, we had no issues at all but do be aware that it is quite narrow when using. There is only 0.5 miles of narrow road heading towards the A299, 1 mile in total, we towed from the southern end of the road on arrival and to the 299 on leaving and had no issues.
Rather surprised this is the first review!!
