Tranquility and relaxation

I stayed here for two nights because I planned to watch an outdoor performance by The Three Inch Fools in the grounds of the estate. Only 5 pitches, all with electric (10m cable ample). Facilities, fresh water, grey waste, chemical waste and bins spotlessly clean. The site is tucked away off the overflow car park and feels like you are back to basics, I love that it is adequate but not manicured. The hard standing is overgrown in places but flat (didn’t need levellers), the surrounding grass kept reasonably long. No light pollution so take a torch if you venture out after dark, and there was peace and quiet throughout my visit. The NT visitor toilets are a short walk away and open around 8am after cleaning) and close around 5:15pm unless there is an event on (open unlit 10pm for the evening play). Farm shop and NT restaurant in main visitor car park and The Spread Eagle Inn in the courtyard about 800m away. Beautiful NT gardens (entrance included in site fee) and lots of walks in the surrounding area. Easy access from the A303. Exactly what I hoped from the NT, no frills, at one with the surrounding countryside.
