A lovely, quiet site

Just returned from a lovely long weekend at Stud Farm. It is a peaceful site with plenty of room for our young children to run around without losing sight of them. We were given a friendly welcome and a lovely pitch. It is so handy for York with a bus stop right opposite the driveway. We didn't use it but the bus takes 18 mins to get in to York City. Overall we had a lovely stay and would love to return!

Excellent start to our trip

Lovely welcome, considerate owner who put us on hard standing outside the field as we were only there one night. Lovely peaceful site, with a good walk for our dog. Would certainly stay there again.

Peaceful spot

Stayed for five nights in September to visit York. Easy to find off main road. Access down track past house. Large level field with Electric hook up and water. Having a motorhome the owner put us on the reinforced grass area near the entrance gate. Chemical disposal located behind Stud Farm Lodge building. There is a bus stop to York a few yards across the road with one bus and hour. Also convenient for York Park and Ride. Pleasant owners. Very reasonable price for location. However Wigginton village and the pubs are more than a mile walk away.

Lovely welcome

This was our second stop on our touring holiday and as we are quite new to touring in our van we had chosen sites based on reviews and our gut feeling. This proved totally successful with Stud Farm. A great welcome and an ever helpful owner. Thank you to previous reviews and to Mr and Mrs Whitaker. The local villages have all you need for shopping and are pretty and peaceful and if you are a fan of Lego or have children or grandchildren who are as we do, DO NOT MISS the Lego shop on the Wiggington Road on the way into York. Amazing enthusiastic owner. We used the park and ride to go into York and had a great time.

Posh Cat

We have been visiting this site for quite a few years now and have always found the owners to be welcoming and unobtrusive. We have always been escorted to the site and offered a choice of pitches It is a small site but very peaceful and our dogs love the freedom of the adjoining field. We do not agree with the reviewer who said the owners were unhelpful. Perhaps their attitude was a problem. As far as the grass is concerned, sometimes it is a bit long but if the ground is wet then it is not possible to cut as the ground would be ruined. Whenever we visit it is always busy, so there are obviously a lot of people who feel the site is exactly what they require. Oh well you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Excellent CL, close to York.

Just returned home after our third visit to Stud Farm, this time staying nine nights. Arriving from the south we found it easy to enter the narrow driveway. Look for the bus stop, the entrance is about 20 yards before the bus stop sign. Mrs Whittaker was very friendly and welcoming, she insisted on showing us onto the field and helping us to choose a pitch. It had been very wet prior to our arrival but with her help we found an area of hard ground just inside the field. It is a very peaceful site, about 100 yards from the road and shielded by trees. The local bus passes the end of the drive, hourly and takes about 20 minutes into the centre of York. The site is a couple of miles North of York ring road which gives easy access to several retail parks and supermarkets. The coast is about an hour and a half away through the beautiful York countryside. One of our favourite CL's we hope to return again in 2016.

Visit to Stud Farm Sept. 2015

Have just returned home from Stud Farm after a 1`2day break. Having been going there for over 10 years I do NOT recognise the site the last reviewer was at.Nicer people than the Whittakers are hard to find. Her problem with the grass could be due to very wet weather when one does not cut to protect the site. The bins may be small but they are emptied every morning. While the entrance is tight it can be entered with just a little care.

A quiet site near York

A fairly basic site great care is needed to navigate the farm track entrance off the main road especially if you are approaching the site from Helmsley. We did not find the owners particularly helpful or nice and the grass needed a good cut. The bin provided for rubbish was far too small especially as most of the time there were more than the permitted five vans on the site. On the plus side despite being very near to a main road the site was quite and very handy for York and you could walk your dog in the neighbouring field - albeit on a lead as there were sheep in the field

Great CL

Just had 4 nights at Stud Farm.  Mrs Whitaker greeted us upon arrival. Took the time to talk about local attractions and local travel services.   Lovely CL with plenty of space between plots.  (level field) The site is a long way from the main road so very peaceful. The only thing that would be a great addition is W IFI. Easy to get to the center of York and local retail shopping parks.  Park and Ride is also very close.   Will definitely be returning.
