Great location shame about the dogs

Great location for walking up Helvelyn to Keswick or around Thirlmere BUT unfortunately the site is very small and the farm dogs are allowed to run free peeing up the awning, aqua roll etc and crapping everywhere which is not dealt with only by yourself. It's a farm we understood that but there has to be some standards. Stay at Borrowdale club site instead.

Great Views

On arrival in Early June, had a look up at the small uneven pitching area and, since we didnt intend to put up an awning, decided to copy others and pitch on the verge alongside the entrance lane. Great views from here but, not surprisingly in view of the location, no tv reception. Nice clean toilet.

Shame about the dogs

Pre booked caravan & awning but on arrival was told go find a spot up there. Found a spot as requested but there was no room to have awning, then up came farm dogs to run around site peeing up everything including next doors water bottles.THIS really put me off staying, do not want dog urine on water bottles or awning if I could have found some way re park caravan to attach awning. looked around area & found caravan site down road & moved there next day.

Too Small for 5 Vans

Although on the info it says that there is 0.25 acres, this really can't be true; more like 0.6! It is only really suitable for 3/4 vans at a time. We could easily follow along on next doors TV, being able to peer straight into their caravan at close quarters! It makes you wonder why they require a deposit especially in August when we went. We love farm cls, but every morning without fail, their dogs came up to the site to go to the loo... a little bit you don't mind but when you are cleaning your kids shoes for the umptemth time it can get too much! Having said that it is in a nice setting, if there were only a few caravans and you have no kids.

Working Farm

We stayed two nights at end August. We found the cl area to be a little small for five vans if units are on the large side. (7.25m). As it is a working farm their is farm noises from about 6am. The owners are realy helpful, Good location for Keswick and surrounding area.

No room for us!

We had booked well in advance and had to send a £23 deposit (strange) on arrival we were not shown to site just told its round the back. we made our way round a very tight yard and up to site. There was already 4 vans on site and a small bit of ground left for us. We had prebooked a caravan with the awning, after putting our van up on 3 level blocks we were level, but there was no room to put up an awning or sit outside because there was no room. We went off and investigated the local area and found another CL in the area, booked a place and moved. Plus sides the views are beautiful and easy access into Keswick. just be prepared for a very tight sight.

Fantastic holiday!

A really enjoyable stay. Yes, there is noise, but this is a very hard working farm - particularly this month (August) as 2000 sheep were being defrocked of their winter coats! Owners were lovely - really friendly and helpful. And fresh eggs available every morning! We will certainly return.

A working CL

Stayed two nights in May 2012 in our motorhome (7.4m) when the weather was fantastic! LocalPlacesOfInterest: 10 miles South of Keswick on A591; rough farm access; PTA at end of farm lane (£7.40 return to Keswick!); no pub - but Hotel couple of miles away. Site: Tight area but HS for all; bit smelly - but hell, it’s a farm! Lots of dogs, dog noise and pooh, lovely mountain views but not of nearby Thirlemere Lake. Facilities: basic amenities inc WC & shower but clean and tidy. Nice family farm, family made us most welcome. Would we revisit? Yes, great location for some more walking. (Only down side being price of local bus fares).
