When I phoned to book the site, the owner said it was £23 a night, with wi-fi available at £1.50 a night if required. I told him I had my own phone data so we would probably be ok for wi-fi. When we arrived however there was no phone signal, so we had to pay for the wi-fi to avoid being totally cut-off. So £24.50 a night, the most we have ever paid. The previous site near Criccieth was £15, with bathroom and shower, plus free laundry. We'd stayed there almost 3 weeks, so Mr Jones lost out on a longer stay due to the cost of this site. Extreme care needs to be taken entering and exiting onto the main road from the site as it is on a bend and traffic whizzes past. The site is pleasant enough, in a deep-sided valley, but with no views to the horizon so we both felt somewhat claustrophobic during our week there. The elsan drop is the best I have ever seen, perfectly engineered, with hardstandings and gravel paths to the amenities. We saw the owner several times and he seemed friendly enough, unfortunately the same could not be said for his wife, who was unsmiling to the point of rudeness on the 2 occasions we saw her. When it came to paying on the final day, the notice in the field asked for a bank transfer, unfortunately my bank sends a security code via text message when setting up a new transfer, which couldn't be done due to the lack of signal. So I took the money to the house, the unsmiling daughter came to the window and said she thought her father would not accept cash. I told her it was cash or nothing. After a further wait the owner came out, I explained about the bank transfer, and he took the cash. Meanwhile the wife was glowering at me through the window. Due to the unfavourable attitude of the ladies, and the cost, we would not stay here again.
