Ease of arrival/welcome

Amazingly peaceful

We had a very warm welcome with choices of where to pitch. There are two sites here. The CL which is grass and at the back, separate, a "private" site of about 7 hard standing pitches. Both fields slope, the rear site more so, although it probably has more "flat" pitches. All pitches, both fields, have electric points. We were on the CL as the grass was dry & firm. Despite the slight slope we managed to find a patch (by not going right up to the hedge, that was flat and we didnt need levelling ramps. There is a very tall hedge along one side, which provided some nice shade for a lot of the day. Water tap was easy to access for the van. Grey water goes into the hedge. You cant see the canal from the site (either one) but the tow path is literally just through the beer garden, and you can watch the barges from the beer garden. Walk for as long as you want along the tow path in either direction. The pub, while we were there, was open from 12 noon at the weekend, and from 7pm during the week. It was quite busy on the Sunday afternoon, but not noisy. The rest of the time the site was just incredibly peaceful. We went for a couple of short walks up the canal, and had a drink at the pub, but didnt move from the site. We had gone to chill out, and that's what we did. It was absolutely great. We tend not to re-visit sites, but if this site was nearer to home, I think we would be regulars!
