Good Value Now?

We don’t stay on CLs at all often and so it could be thought unfair to compare prices and facilities. Last August, Tiger77's review said that at £10 they thought it good value and I suppose that would be right but at £15 I thought it a lot for a site without electricity, especially in the grounds of a pub. It's a large increase in less than a year. Perhaps £15 for the first night and a cheaper rate for subsequent nights would be fair, (We booked and paid for three nights but stayed only two,) especially if a meal is bought in the bar. We did have an enjoyable meal but I'm reminded of the times, admittedly rarely, when I’ve bought a meal in a pub and have been allowed to stay overnight in the carpark without charge. To its credit though, there is a good, exclusive use toilet and shower, not available at an informal stay on a pub carpark When we arrived, the pub was closed but it was no trouble to drive onto the CL and settle in until it opened (at 4pm) to register. The Church House Inn is in a good location for cycling into Coniston and for walks up The Old Man and other fells. We caught one of the rare (mini) buses into Conston (£3) and walked back (3 miles).
