Great Location & Views

We stayed here for a week in September and found it a very well located CL for access to the north east of Caithness. The views over the Pentland Firth and sunsets over Dunnet Head were spectacular.

Thurso and Wick were within easy reach and John o' Groats and the Castle of Mey were close by. There was some good walking to be had on Dunnet Head and Duncansby Head.

The ferry terminal at Gills Bay was only a couple of miles away and so rather more convenient than Scrabster for our moving on to Orkney. Caravans need to be reversed onto the ferry, but they will do this for you if needed. I believe that a larger ferry being planned may be roll-on / roll-off.

The site facilities were excellent with water and drainage to each pitch. As mentioned previously, there's a bit of a walk to the toilet waste disposal, but this wasn't a problem for us and a trolley is available if needed.

Steve and Kirsty were very friendly and helpful and were it not for the 1,000+ mile round trip, we'd be regulars at The Crofters Snug!
