A mixed bag

We arrived to a warm welcome from Mary and offer of tea followed by an informative brief on all matters necessary. We had a great pitch on the grass and settled in quickly, good job we brought plenty of levelling blocks though. The toilet and waste facilities were excellent and clean. The site is part caravan/container storage and part CL site so we had to be selective with where we viewed but generally nice. There is a pleasant walk out the back of the site which leads through bracken fields and twisting paths - very nice indeed. The site is convenient for getting to all areas of the Wye Valley so good again for that reason. We booked the site based on the principle that the reviews stated it was peaceful and tranquil, however this is definitely not the case. The B4228 is extremely busy from 4.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. every day except Sunday (oh with the occasional boy racer and lorries continuing thereon). This is of course out of the hands of Mary and Penny but (all but a very few of) the site reviews should have mentioned it, unless of course most people visiting live on the M25 (everything is relative I suppose). So all in all a mixed bag! Depends what you want, but my wife's and I's overriding remit was peace and quiet and it weren't that.
