A superb welcome to this gem of a CL

Just had a wonderful stay at this beautiful CL site. With a warm welcome from Pam with a tray of tea/coffee on arrival, such a lovely touch. The site has the benefit of shower/ toilet facilities and all pitches are well spaced. The location is perfect and both Tenby and Saundersfoot can be reached with ease. Supermarket ,garage ,bakery and takeaway/restaurants all in close proximity too. We didn’t have the best of weather on leaving so Pam and Geoff guided us safely off our pitch too. Always going out of their way, they’re perfect hosts. We can thoroughly recommend this CL and will be returning for sure.

Fabulous little site

A lovely little site in fabulous surroundings in the most amazing area, the site owners Pam & Geoff are 2 of the nicest people you will ever meet, our 4 night stay wasn't long enough but we will be back. Shaun & Joycelyn

Also mixed feelings

We too had mixed feelings about this site but maybe for different reasons. We are motorhomers and we spend a lot of time researching an area to ensure all amenities and facilities are close to hand. Location very good, great for bus, train, shop, takeaway (didn't use) and walks. However, both nearby pubs were very disappointing, nearest one, no dogs inside, the other did not look inviting (run down) so we didn’t try either. The site itself was sheltered, flat, spacious and pleasant, the owners were friendly but maybe a bit too friendly for us. Instead of being left alone in private, they were always around, some campers perhaps like the company but it all felt a bit "too personal" for us. The toilet, shower & waste disposal were all in their actual garden, not ideal and rather basic. No hot water in the sink, shower not clean and shared with huge spiders. Also, the walks to the beaches were definitely further than suggested and very steep. We are both in our late 50’s and fit but it took longer than the suggested 45/50 mins and was more like 3 miles on our computers! Check Google maps first. Priced at £22 a night with electric, seems to be the going rate in view of the current fuel price increases but not worth paying anymore.

Mixed feelings….

Booked a motorhome pitch 2 months prior to arrival. Took the available they had and booked our holiday around the dates. Arrival - greeted by Geoff, showed us around the site. Where to get water, our pitch, facilities, local walks, maps, pubs, attractions etc. However, there were already 6 other outfits on site, one of them being no more than 1 meter away from our assigned pitch. No explanation as to why there were 2 extra pitches on site and why we were sharing our pitch with another couple in their van with a barking dog! Not letting this ruin our stay we carried on setting up and having a nice stay. Our pitch - level hard standing with electric hook up, nice grass area, well kept and peaceful. However, we had to share the pitch for the entire 6 night stay which is unacceptable in our opinion. Absolutely no TV signal available. This is NOT variable signal availability as stated on the website. This is not a problem to us but would have been nice to know when booking, Speaking to the other residents on the site, they too had no tv signal. For motorhome, disposal of the grey waste is a bit of a faff! A makeshift guttering piece is available to position underneath the van and aim in to a manhole…it’s ok. Shower and toilet on site all ok but had to squash the flies and bugs before using!! Location - The site is in a good location, with a nice local pub 2 min walk away that does great food. All mains around £10. Easy 50 min walk to wisemans bridge and Saundersfoot. 30 min cycle ride to Tenby. All lovely places to visit. Overall, a friendly host and a nice stay. Maybe check the amount of people staying if you are expecting a CL site that has 5 pitches.

Lots of Pros & some Serious Cons to this CL.

PROS: Good geographically and easy to find by looking out on the left behind some trees and grass verge and a quiet location. The owners were very welcoming and explained where all the various local shops etc. are, plus recommended the local pub that is at the beginning of the road, where we had a pleasant meal. Driving into the charming places of Tenby and Saundersfoot is easy, plus plentiful car parking at both on the day that we visited. CONS: There is a need to be well lined-up via the entrance gate with a standard 24ft long Caravan as well as care when leaving, as the roadway is not very wide. The main picture of the site is very old and could be considered misleading, especially as the Hard Standing pitches are questionable. Three being just long/narrow “Tandem style” plus the other two are only just wide enough for the actual caravan and car alongside and no-more, without walking on sodden deep rutted grass, plus very short. We also happened to be located under a large oak tree that had its acorns thunder down on our roof at 2am one morning during a rain storm and then drip drip for many hours after. If we had moved forward we would have blocked the narrow roadway. The grass areas immediately to the side of the pitches and roadway displayed many wheel ruts and were well and truly waterlogged, thus lots of care needed at all times unhitching, car parking and re-hitching. The separate shower and toilet was spacious but very dated. The Chemical/Waste water emptying point was via a standard “Manhole” with only a Water-tub and watering-can adjacent. No Running water to flush things! SUMMERY: Why would anybody suggest “Candidate for CL of the year, A Gem or Fabulous, at anytime? We all have our own standards! We left after two nights instead of staying our paid Four Booked nights and will not return, under any circumstances! Many other great CL's elsewhere!

What a great Site. Definitely a candidate for CL of the year award

This is the first CL we have been to that you get a coffee on arrival. I have caravanned and motorhomed for 20 years visiting hundreds of sites and this was an absolute first. Pam and Geoff were the perfect hosts, giving us lots of information and assistance from dog walks to train times and walks into Sandersfoot. Sits is lovely with hard standings, lovely facilities and the warmest greeting ever. Thanks ever-so-much Pam and Geoff

Gem Of a Site.

This is a lovely site run by Geoff and Pam who welcome you with a hot drink. The owners are extremely helpful and the facilities are clean and tidy. Walks into Saundersfoot are available with Bus and Train routes into Tenby and Saundersfoot nearby. Shops are a short walk away with the Begelly Arms even closer for food and drink. Recommend this CS.

Fabulous Site Highly recomended

As we arrived at The Gate House. We were welcomed by Geoff and Pam. Whilst Geoff assisted us to pitch our caravan Pam had the Kettle on. A tray was set up for us with tea cosy to keep it warm for when we were ready. We were given a tour of facilities and recycling operation, which was well laid out. Toilets and shower room had all the equiptment stocked ready to clean down after everyuse to keep covid at bay whilst we enjoyed our holiday. Site Location was brilliant to explore all of Pembrokeshire with Saunderfoot just 10 minutes away in car. Some lovely walks from the site and Bagelly arms pub do lovely food just a 4 min walk away. Looking forward to going back soon

Nicest welcome to a lovely CL

We were greeted on arrival and offered tea and coffee which is a first in nearly 50 cl sites of which we have visited. The owners gave us all the info we needed and showed us to our pitch. The pitches are very near level with minimum adjustment required and each pitch has plenty of space. Access to the site is a little tight and so requires extra care but it is not overly difficult. The facilities were adequate and my family and I all used the free shower as ours was full of items needed for a long break. I would certainly recommend this cl site.
