What a site, what service

We stayed on this site in October on the way back from the Norfolk Broads. We thought that we had followed the directions but we took the first turning off the A46 travelling south signed Kinoulton, then we turned into Kinoulton Lane - sounds logical! Unfortunately this lane is plagued with potholes and we duly hit one and our motor mover jammed onto the nearside tyre. What now? We phoned the site and Chris came out immediately to help, saw what the problem was and went to get tools. He managed to get the motor mover off the tyre and reset it and then led us to his site. Now, you just don't get this level of service and help everyday and this was on the day after he had celebrated his Golden Wedding anniversary. The site is excellent, we went on the hard standing round the back of the barn as there had been a lot of rain previously; that suited us fine as we were straight out onto the walks and our 2 dogs loved it. The views are great, the walks Chris gave us are very good. Chris was always around if needed. The CL proper (all grass) was well laid out, water to each pitch and well tended. We travelled around quite a bit and it is a lovely area; our daughter lives in West Bridgford and it was really quick and easy to get there. We will certainly stay here again but we won't go down Kinoulton Lane again; A606 and into Hickling is the best way. Thank you Chris for coming to our rescue and for keeping a truly excellent CL. Brilliant!

We stayed here for five nights over August Bank Holiday. We cannot fault and the place is a credit to Chris and Jan. We booked well in advance using email. We were answered promptly and efficiently. The week leading upto our stay and on arrival day Chris contacted us by text to check arrival times etc., all spot on. When we arrived we were not on the main CL as we are a heavy motorhome, and Chris’ grass was far too immaculate for us to ruin. Chris guided us around to far side of greenhouse onto a hardstanding area but with grass, own tap and bins. Plus a little further back from road (not that it is busy or intrusive road), and lovely open countryside views, so we were delighted. We were near the car park for the Chocolatier cafe/shop, plant shop and newly opened farm shop but didn’t feel uncomfortable and not unduly bothered by these businesses. We could also watch the parachutes from Langar airport practising their jumps from planes. Chris was an impeccable host, regularly checking up on us but not intrusive, offering home grown tomatoes and cucumbers. He was a star as he lent us a ladder to facilitate a repair we had to do. The toilet was spot on - immaculately kept and checked daily. Only thing to be aware the toilet is not right next to main CL field, and is a little walk to get to it. The footpaths and walking opportunities in the area are extensive especially with the canal which we informed does go all the way to Nottingham one way, and Grantham the other. The Wharf cafe in the village is excellent, and also do yummy take out cakes too. Chocolatier is also well worth popping in. Farm shop was in its first week but lady who runs it farms in the village and is planning to get her own meat into shop soon. The bacon we did get was superb. All in all as it says at top - brilliant- highly recommend.

A great cl

Chris met me on arrival and made me very welcome. He sitedme on a hardstanding set in the grass not on the grassy cl which can be soft for a motorhome. Site information and maps were very helpful and visits were made to Hickling and Kinoulton. Footpaths were beautifully kept and well marked but there is not a short footpath to Kinoulton, but the road is quite quiet. Pubs in both villages worth a visit. There is a long path to Kinoulton via Hickling along the canal towpath. It's a pity there isn't a better bus service but there's not much Chris can do about that. Would have no hesitation visiting again or recommending to others. The farm shop opened while I was there, very good, as is the tea room.

What a wonderful site

Met by Jan and Chris with his hands full of information and maps of wonderful walks direct from the site. The very secure sight was kept in pristine condition, including the toilet and washing up facilities. Plenty of birds and wildlife about which we like to see. It was a bonus having the cafe next door and the little nursery! So glad we have found this site - we will definitely be returning for a longer stay when we are in the area again.

Outstanding

Our first visit to this area and didn't know what to expect. Was met at the gates by Chris who told us everything we needed to know. Leaflets galore to walks directly from the site. Further leaflets for places of interest, we couldn't go wrong. The CL is kept in pristine condition due to the owners hard work. Was spoilt being a serviced site. Definitely going to be our first port of call when back in this area, if we can get in.

Lovely Site

Met by Chris the very helpful owner, on arrival. Showed us to our pitch and gave us the site information and leaflets outlining local walks. He also loaned us some equipment too. The site itself is lovely, well kept, peaceful and very tidy. Located between villages of Kinoulton and Hickling, both with pubs and both walkable ( about 1km) from the site. Set close to the Grantham canal, again great for walkers. Coffee shop onsite and tea shop in Hickling. All our correspondence was answered quickly by Chris and Jan. Wi fi included. We will most definitely return

another lovely stay

Once again another lovely stay. Due to the previous rain and the forecast of rain during our stay, we were on hard standing rather than the usual grass site. However, this gave us a different view and we were able to sit and watch the parachutists descending in the distance. We also watched kestrels during the day and saw a barn owl at night. It was lovely to hear skylarks. We had some nice walks from the site, to the local pubs (Hickling Basin and Kinoulton) and also walked to Vimy Ridge Farm which although now derelict has an interesting history together with the Lombardy Popular avenue planted originally as a living war memorial. The toilet is very clean. The nursery has lovely plants some of which came home with us. We will be returning to stay.

So Welcoming

Just had our second visit to Grove Farm, We were met at the gate by Chris who greeted us after we had called him to say we were almost there & he told us which pitches were available, Chris is always around should you have any problems., there is a lovely clean toilet & a locked gate to the site to which you are given a key and leaflets of nearby walks he still has hand sanitiser all around. The site is so peaceful with sheep that at the moment have lambs, we were fortunate enough to see hares when out on one of our walks very close to the site.Just down the road a short walk or slightly longer walk if you go via the canal walk [ see leaflet ] is the canal basin with a lovely coffee shop where if the weather is nice you can sit outside and watch ducks & swans, inside seating is also available. Thanks for another lovely stay Chris we hope to return again soon. Mike & Joan

A lovely welcome!

We have just spent the best part of a week at this lovely CL. Upon our arrival, Chris welcomed us with homegrown tomatoes and a cucumber! The CL was ideally located for visiting the area - Space Centre and King Richard III visitor centre at Leicester (use the P&R), Melton Mowbray (home of the pork pie), Belvoir Castle (which we could see in the distance from the site), the Great Central Railway and of course much more locally, Cropwell Bishop and Colston Bassett creameries for Stilton cheese. Everything was kept spotless, and Chris was always on hand should we have needed anything, which thankfully, we didn't. There are some lovely walks from the CL in all directions, with printed directions available. At all times, the CL is very quiet, so if it's R&R you're after, you'll get it here. Another gem in the CL chain, and being not far from home, one that we will certainly be returning to. Thank you Chris and Jan!
