Lovely site

Smashing site 30 minutes walk outside Wem. Country lanes are a pleasure to cycle and very quiet and almost traffic free. Great location for visiting Shropshire Falconry which my wife did....highly recommended. Site is very peaceful overlooking fields. Shropshire Way goes each direction close to site. Wem is a very nice town with nice pubs/shops. Plenty to visit nearby. Definitely returning Now on non metered electric and £15 a night Well done to the owners Thanks Mel and Steve

Great site

This is a lovely site set in a great location with access to some beautiful walks. Electricity was provided and hardstanding was fine for our camper van. We walked into Wem a few times and walked back once on the Shropshire Way. Unfortunately, the weather was very changeable and so that route got very wet and muddy, so we walked via the road in subsequent trips. Another lovely walk was to Dobson Bridge and the disused arm of the Llangollen canal. Again, the weather was shocking which meant that we had to return earlier than we had hoped. We didn't make it to Loppington, but fancied a trip to the Dickin Arms - maybe next time! We went to The Castle for a meal - difficult under current Covid regulations, but we still had a lovely meal in the beer garden. The White Lion was also a welcome stop on out first night and also served food in the beer garden. We will definitely be returning to this site and hope for better weather next time!

Excellent

Stayed October 2020 in motorhome. Used it to visit the Shropshire Falconry less than a mile away. (Fantastic Jessops photography experience) Site is five hardstandings. Metered electric but lasts ages. Quiet country location at side of farm but only 30 minutes walk along shropshire way footpath to Wem. Excellent cycling and walking opportunities. Chemical waste and cold water tap which in covid times are all you need, just use the van. Owner is friendy and helpful. You feel right out of the way on the site. Currently £10 a night represents very good value. Well done the owners. Will be back again

Wonderful peace and quite

Stayed here in August 2015, very peaceful and quite, only the sound of the cows in the morning to awaken us.  The site is basic with no facilities but does have electic hook up (approx £1 per night) fresh water and waste facilities.  Access is a little tricky but we just drove slowly.  The nearest town, Wem, is small and has limited facilites, but it does have rail access to Shrewsbury and Chester. Pubs in the town are generally small (no theme pubs) and authentic and sell lovely Shropshire ales.  Walking in the area is fabulous and was our main reason to visit. Overall we loved it and can't wait to go back

Smashing CL with miles of quiet lanes for cycling...

Smashing little site with open views across fields, and miles and miles of relatively car-free country lanes for cycling. Hardstanding for the 'van, and awning can be pitched on lawned sidebar. Owners very pleasant and helpful. Electricity by card system, but we used less than a fiver's worth in 8 days - although space heater wasn't on. If coming from Whitchurch the turning off the B5476 just north of the one described, is much better. Also, when you come across the CL sign on the lamp post, don't be fooled into thinking you've arrived - the CL is about another 150 metres up the lane! We will definitely be returning...

Outstanding peace and tranquility

Recently visited this CL. It's best feature must be the truly remerkable peace and tranquility. It's set in gentle pastureland in North Shropshire, and there was not even distant road noise when we were there, as it's well away from the nearest main road. All vans have an unobstructed south facing view over open pasture-land, and there are no overhanging trees. The only sounds were of birds and the gentle lowing of cows. The facilities are the basic ones that one would expect from a CL. Electric hook -up is by a card in the slot system. We spent two summer nights there for less than a pound. The pitches consist of five level hard-standings in a row, a boon in wet weather and the era of heavy vans, but perhaps rather close together. The approach is via the Wem-Whitchurch B road. The approach from Whitchurch is probably to be preferred as Wem can be a bit tricky when traffic is heavy. However, we did approach via Wem and did not encounter any problems. The final approach is via half a mile or so of country lane, but there are plenty of passing places and good sight-lines. We noticed there was no instruction in the handbook about directions from Whitchurch. This should be rectified. Entry onto the site is a different matter. It is by a fairly narrow S-shaped drive through the owners beautiful garden, and long outfits like ours will might find it a little tricky, but we managed. Plenty of shops, banks, pubs serving food, restaurants and takeaways are available in Wem and its immediate vicinity. It's a good base for exploring North Shropshire and the rest of Shropshire and Ironbridge are within easy reach. The maze of country lanes in the vicinity are excellent for cycling, but bring an OS map. Overall, if you want true, simple, rural peace, then this is the ideal getaway.
