Fabulous Well Maintained Site

Lincolnshire is a new area for us but having found it so difficult to make any bookings anywhere this year, I chanced upon this site one cold wet Sunday afternoon and made an on line booking for 14 nights. The on line booking system was incredibly easy to use and we welcomed the opportunity to pay a £20.00 deposit prior to our arrival. Why on earth all CAMC sites don't insist upon this, I have no idea...but I digress. Having some of the reviews of the site, we weren't really sure what to expect and although i agree with some of the fellow reviewers about the state of the suggested final approach road recommended by the CAMC, I think other comments are outdated. We stayed on a hard standing pitch on the Certificated Location part of the site. It had its own electricity point and the fresh water and chemical disposal point was in very close proximity. Our pitch accommodated our car and caravan and there was room to pitch our Kampa awning. The pitch was totally flat and immaculately kept. We were in a bay of two caravans surrounded by laurel hedges. The site itself was very quiet - no signs or evidence of chickens at all - and the facilities were superbly maintained - always clean and properly maintained. The CL has its own little facility block consisting of two toilets and washbasins, one of which also contains a very spacious shower (50p for a very adequate supply of hot water) although there are additional facility blocks elsewhere on the park which you are welcome to use. There is also a laundry room and an on site snack van providing a variety of drinks and snacks during the day. There were nice walks to the two fishing lakes on site and we took advantage of the location to visit some interesting places that we found worthy of a viste. These included Lincoln Cathedral, the huge Saturday car boot sale at Stickney and the Clare Boam Antique Centre at Horncastle. "Skegvegas" isn't really our type of place but we enjoyed walking along the prom and found great beaches at Huttoft Car Terrace and Anderby Creek. The owners were pleasant and helpful without being intrusive and the site was superb value for money. We would definitely recommend it and hope to return in the future. Two points worthy of consideration: We'd recommend avoiding the approach road by driving into Skegness and then taking the A52 to Ingoldmells, turning left at the Green Acres campsite. It's a much better road! We'd also suggest to fellow members staying on the CL to note which of the two water hoses at the water point is used to fill the Aquaroll - the other being used to rinse out the Wastemaster and chemical toilet. There are signs .....but they are not very big and in our opinion, are not sited in the best position. Such minor observations, should not detract from the qualities the site has to offer. It is a real credit to the owners and well worth a visit.
