Just returned from a 5 day stay here. Access is straightforward, the last mile or so off the A3052 is a bit narrow with passing places and the last 150 yards is a bit of a rough track which is best taken at walking pace. Once on the CL, the ground is level, well mown and the pitches are well marked out. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Recycling, drinking water tap and the chemical disposal point are located near the entrance. We didn't use the shower or toilets so can't comment on those. The site is on a working farm so expect to see and hear farm machinery. The area is lovely, with plenty of walks, either on lanes or footpaths. Definitely one to add to the return list.
Lovely, peaceful CL
We have just enjoyed 5 nights at The Mallards and it was our second visit there. As others have said, Adrian the owner is 'about' and friendly but not intrusive. The weather was not great with some torrential rain but as soon as the sun did come out we were quickly reminded of the beauty and tranquility of this CL. It is a little tight to turn in from the path if your van is long but the grass pitches are reasonably flat when you get set up. For some reason we had trouble getting any workable tv signal on this visit but we don't remember struggling the first time - hedges getting higher?? We will certainly return to The Mallards when we are visiting family and friends in Exeter.

Best so Far
I'm a CL fan and, for me, this is best.
Great location
Great welcome
Functional toilet & shower (rustic....just how it should be)
I'll be going again
A beautiful site
Wow, what a great CL. Fabulous views, so peaceful and so well kept. If you’re looking for peace and tranquility this is the site for you. Lovely owner who keeps the site in great order.
A real gem of a CL - perfect
Peace and tranquillity - this site has it in spades. Adrian is the perfect host and keeps the site immaculate. It was a joy to watch the cows go in for milking twice a day and being able to buy bantam eggs on site - what luxury. We will be back.

Tranquility & Scenery
Stayed here for two days and such a peaceful site with fantastic views across the fields. When we arrived it was sheeting down but after we set up we were visited by the site owner Adrian. Very welcoming and helpful and nothing was to much trouble. The pub (Diggers Rest) is only a short 10 minute walk away and is excellent both in its food and hospitality.
The toilets and shower (50p) for 4 minutes were basic but this is after all a CL site.
We will hopefully return :-)
Perfect peace and tranquillity
Just returned from a wonderful weekend at The Mallards. Perfect from start to finish. Easy to get to. Good location for site seeing and perfect for relaxing. Warm welcome from Adrian who keeps a CL with high standards of cleanliness and recycling. Pitches all well mown and very spacious. Lovely far reaching views across the Exe Estuary. Pleasant walks from site. Highly recommended.
Exceptionally quiet site
Very good working farm site. Lots of areas to walk the dogs on local footpaths, although restricted on the site due to farm animals. Very welcoming and friendly - pitch clearly marked on arrival. Facilities excellent with separate male and female toilets - luxury. Small charge for the shower. Road leading to the site was quite narrow and not clearly marked, but we got used to it.

Perfect and peaceful
Stayed here for 3 nights and will definitely be back. Apart from the odd tractor (expected in such a rural haven) it was quiet and peaceful. Facilities spotless and well tended by Adrian who was welcoming but unobtrusive. Plenty of space between units with a very chilled and friendly atmosphere. Well placed for exploring various seaside locations but also perfect if you just want somewhere relaxing to chill out.
Away from it all yet close to home
Being only just over an hour down the motorway from home this is the perfect little getaway. The site is very peaceful with chickens and cockerels roaming around. Pitches are well spaced and kept neat and tidy and the shower and WC as always on a CL are a bonus. The owner is very friendly and helpful and comes round daily to greet you and check everything is ok. Being my first time here and knowing I was on my own he was keen to make sure I was here and settled. He is not always able to be here when you arrive, but, very efficiently puts your name on your pitch so you know exactly where you are. The (very small) village is only a short walk down the lane where there is a pub and (apparently) buses to Exeter and Exmouth. Very handy to know. It is fairly easy to find although the last bit up the track to the site could be easily missed as the sign at the end of the lane is not easily seen. However, Adrian is looking to improve this. As others have said it is a very narrow track but only a very short distance so should not be a problem. All in all a great little site. I will definitely be coming again.
