Superb location for a winter visit

This lovely quiet site is located at the base of Maiden Castle just outside Dorchester making it ideal for exploring the area. The site has two spacious hard standing pitches available all year round as well as a paddock for summer. There is a toilet/ shower room across the yard which includes a seat for disabled users. The information hut on site had lots of information about the area including times for local buses to Dorchester and Weymouth. The bus stop is a five minute walk away on the main road with buses every 20 minutes. Dorchester is well worth a visit for its many museums. We particularly enjoyed the Dorset Museum which has a wide range of exhibits from natural history to Roman mosaics and a nice cafe). We also did a mountain bike ride to the Hardy Monument which had lovely views across Dorset farmland and to Portland (car park by monument if you fancy a less energetic visit). The site is very dark at night to ensure you bring a torch if venturing out after dark. A lovely peaceful site which is definitely worth a return visit.
