Lovely site, pleasant and helpful owner

Chris made me very welcome and showed me the facilities. The site is beautifully kept and is directly opposite the King Edward Mine museum site. Easy walk into Troon where there is a mini market. Loads of walking and mining history. Note you must access the site from Camborne station side and not attempt Brea tunnel.

Second visit, can it get any better?

This was our second visit to Old Bears Den, which in itself says what we think of this site. Chris, the owner, is an absolute star, he greets you with a beaming smile and gives you as much information and local knowledge as you need. It's a grass site which is cut regularly, and apart from a couple of days we were the only visitors, so we had the whole site to ourselves, what a treat, particularly for our dog! We WILL return for visits three, four...... 5 stars!

Lovely, well maintained site with easy access to beautiful beaches and local attractions

Stayed on this site whilst visiting relatives in St Erth. Very friendly and knowledgeable owner who was both welcoming and helpful. The site was immaculately maintained with easy access and egress to the A30 through Camborne; follow Chris's instructions and don't use sat nav. The site is on the Great Lode so plenty of local history to see and a visit to the King Edward's mine is a must. Our guide's knowledge was phenomenal! The nearby local eatery is The Croust Hut which is a few hundred yards from the site where they serve amazing food during the day. The beautiful beach at Godrevy is easily reached either by the coast road or the A30 as are the nearby woods at Tehidy. The A30 also provides easy access to Truro and all the beaches on the North and South coast in the area and a plethora of supermarkets and shopping venues, so the site ticks every box.

Lovely site with a lovely owner.

We stayed at the Old Bears Den for eight lovely nights. The site owner, Chris, is an incredibly friendly and helpful man who, as an owner of a motorhome, and fellow member, knows what a visitor needs. The site is all grass, which is kept quite short, and the pitches are reasonably level. The site is directly opposite the entrance to King Edward Mine, which is now a museum and adjoining cafe, and is well worth a visit, in fact we had a personal tour by one of the guides who's knowledge was encyclopedic. The site is about 3 miles from the A30 so is ideally suited to exploring the beautiful Cornish scenery and hotspots. DO NOT use your satnav to locate the site! My insurance company will attest to the dangers of relying on the convenience of that navigational aid. Either read carefully Chris's instructions on how to find the site, or enter Camborne from the western exit from the A30, either way it will mean you avoid the calamity that befell us!

August Stay

A lovely couple of nights away at Old Bears Den Newton Moor Camborne. The campsite is spotlessly clean, the grass is cut nicely and the pitches are spacious. The Great Flat Lode (part of the Mineral & Tramways) is right next to the site and is brilliant for bike riding and dog walking. The site is a good base to explore West Cornwall. The site owner (Chris) is really helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We hope to visit again!
