Quiet Haven

We made a late decision to go away for the Easter weekend, didn't want to travel too far from home and also avoid the motorways. We are more than happy off grid on CLs with no EHU etc. This fitted the bill, phoned, booked and was advised there would be another van as well. Directions were fine. Just be aware once you are on the well made drive there is a dip about 50 yards in which you need to take slowly. Once off the drive you are on a cinder track which leads past the barn and then you see five pitches, each on its own terrace. Ours was level, the others appeared to be level too. Fresh water is in the barn (no animals within) together with the rubbish bins, an information board and an honesty box for your fees. The elsan point is beside the barn and in essence is a toilet pan sat in a concrete block, with a tap for sluicing out your tank. Water pressure is low so you may want to use your grey water to flush with. The site is quiet (can't hear the nearby road), lovely birdsong and the odd sighting of a Kite. The Red Lion is the closest pub / restaurant. Five minute walk and booking is essential, it is very popular! The village shop is a five minute walk the other way and seems to have all you need provisionwise. Many smaller villages are around Long Compton, most have a pub too. Lovely walking area, many start from the village (visit Walking World) for routes and maps. If you enjoy staying on CLs as we do, you will like this CL.
