Brilliant CL

Just spent 6 nights on this beautiful CL could not fault it in anyway. MST pitches have water on, a great choice of hard standing and grass pitches (Grass where closed this week due to recent wet weather) nice and secure but I could appreciate frustrations if you don’t know the padlock code. Owners greeted us with the code so no problem for us. Great walks from the site and lots of local places of interest, ideal for stopping off being only a couple of miles off the M5 or staying longer for a nice relaxing break. We will be back, thank you Dawn and Martin

Just perfect

We stayed at this peaceful site for the weekend just what we were looking for. Enjoying the beautiful views from the large grass service pitch ,the well kept border fields which our dog had plenty of room to stretch his legs . We also took around 45 minutes to walk to Ombersley and enjoying a pub lunch in The Kings Arms stopping off at The Cross Keys on our way back most enjoyable. We will definitely be returning everything we love.

Lovely relaxing stay

We have just spent eleven days here and could easily have stayed longer. The huge grass serviced pitches (there are also hard standings), coupled with the sheer size of the camping ground and the views ahead create a great sense of tranquillity. There are lovely wild floral hedges dotted around the fields, including one immediately in front of you. A great touch is that the margins of the fields have been left for you to walk which means it’s absolutely ideal for dogs, and the total area is so large that the owners have created a map for you to use. There is an excellent farm shop just outside the village of Ombersley - more or less the only reason we left the site during our stay.

Not a welcoming CL

I booked this CL by email in March for a stay at the end of June. Upon arrival I was confronted by a padlocked gate with no instructions for unlocking. Apparently the code for the padlock was in my confirmation email from the owner. Fortunately I had the email with me. The code stated was 0000. I tried this code but the lock did not open. I telephoned the owner but the call went straight to voicemail so I left a message asking them to call me back. I did not receive any callback. Fortunately someone already on the site realised that I was unable to gain access and came to help. Having shown my confirmation email to this person they kindly gave me the padlock code which was actually five digits and different numbers to those I had been given. On entering the site I realised that the CL was part of a much larger caravan site with hardstanding pitches separated by hedges. I had booked a hardstanding pitch but as the two on the CL were already occupied I used one of the pitches on the larger site. By doing so we lost the benefit of the views from the CL including a great sunset. There was no information immediately visible as to making payment or where the toilet dump and waste bins were located. Again a fellow camper provided the information. Both were located behind hedges through a gate in an overgrown hedge. The location was not signposted and the gate itself had no sign on it. Inside this small area were a well designed toilet dump, recycling & waste bins and a notice board! On the notice board was some useful information, particularly about paying. Payment was to be made by placing the requisite amount in a small black post box fixed to the wall surrounding the toilet dump & waste bins. How this was to be achieved in such a way as to inform the owner of the person making the payment was not stated and no envelopes were provided. Again my fellow camper came to my rescue and provided an envelope - thank you Ian. The evening wore on and no-one came to check if we had arrived, had found the facilities, etc. nor was my telephone call ever returned. This is a very pleasant site with good facilities but the arrival/welcome is non-existent. More information and clear signage is required if arrival/welcome is to be a DIY process. The location of the CL needs to be signposted and the owner needs to answer their phone or return calls when requested to do so. Information needs to be more thorough and should be displayed at the main gate rather than be hidden away as at present. I felt as if the owner did not really want us there and was only interested in the money to be made. This view was reinforced by a notice on the notice board advising users not to call at the owner’s house as “the dogs may be loose”! Altogether not a welcoming experience.

Lovely site definitely one to visit

We stayed 2 nights at The Old Orchard, nice and easy to find, secure locked gates at the entrance and a choice of very large pitches with electric and water. Fantastic views overs the fields and hills and very peaceful. I think you would really struggle to find a nicer better organised and well kept CL. Definitely one to visit.

Cracking CL with great walking

We stayed at the Old Orchard CL for a week in July 2021. It is a cracking site with plenty of space and great views from the grass pitches. The margins of the fields on the farm are left so visitors can walk around. For those wanting longer walks it is not too far to walk to the River Severn to join the Severn Way. We also walked around nearby Abberley; visited the site of the Battle of Worcester at Powick Bridge and wandered around Hanbury which is said to be the area that inspired the BBC radio series The Archers. It is only a short walk to The Fruiters Arms, this is an old fashion pub with no food but excellent ale. We will definitely return to this site again. You can view the walks from our visit on our Two Dogs and at Awning blog at https://twodogsandanawning.co.uk/site/the-old-orchard-cl/

Quiet, Picturesque Site

We've stayed at this date before, but it keeps drawing us back. The site itself is very well maintained with a supply of water to the pitches , whilst the toilet emptying and recycling is close by. The site is in stunning countryside with far reaching fields and the Malvern hills in the distance. It is idyllically peaceful with no road noise to disturb your relaxation. There is an abundance of wildlife about if you take the time to look. We stayed 2 evenings this time and will definitely be back again soon 🙂.

Top Notch - A Real Gem

Stayed here for one night 21st May on our way home from a road trip through Yorkshire. This CL is excellent, well maintained and with panoramic views of the Malvern, Clee Hills and on a clear day a glimpse of the Brecon Beacons. The CL is in two parts, with some very large hard standing pitches, and some hard standing and grassed pitches in another area. The recycling and chemical waste disposal area was well organised. There are some walks around the farm, and the owners have provided laminated maps of the walks for CL visitors to use. This CL was another last minute find which we booked whilst stopped for a rest break on our way home. The big bonus for us, is that it’s only about an hour and a half away from home, so now we’ve discovered it, we’ll definitely be back, and there are lots of interesting places to visit nearby. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect CL after 40 yrs with the club this is in my top 5 sites

What a little gem. We live 6 miles away and love to spend time in our van on this site. Read the reviews and no one can complain about this site. Look at the layout on line and pick your pitch, grass, hard standing, views or privacy with double the size pitch surrounded by hedge. Some have water on the pitch. Dawn is lovely and you can see this site is her passion. Already stayed 11 days and rebooked for later this month with the kids ( three vans) if your looking for a CL in Worcestershire I can recommend this site.
