Sorry, this just isn't value at £20 pn - (June 2021)

Having just travelled from another CL which, at the same price, offered manicured lawns, fully serviced, large and level hardstandings, a large toilet block in pristine condition and stunning views, this site paled in comparison. There was no meet and greet - took us two days to find someone to pay. Luckily another visitor was able to show us where the power point was located and where the drinking water supply was hidden in an overgrown hedge. There were no clear sites laid out on what was a steeply sloping field and the power supply appeared to have been bolted on to an existing setup in an adjacent field which is now occupied by chickens.I wondered if the entire site has been moved from its original location. The single toilet and shower (near the chickens) lacked power and light. The chemical disposal area was - well, a smelly overgrown hole in the ground with a lid best describes it. The approach is down a long single track lane and, should an arriving caravan meet one leaving, there is absolutely no way for them to pass down it's entire length. I don't really understand how, at this price, the site has received such good reviews before.

Paradise at The Old Vicarage !

We have just arrived home after a 3 night stay here. As we arrived and parked up, the view from our Motorhome was stunning. No one parked in front of us, just fantastic views across fields and open land to the distant hills!! This truly is a bit of paradise.. the views, the wildlife in surrounding fields of deer, rabbits, bats and a stunning owl in flight!! Resident chickens chattter to you as you walk past their pen...sheep in the field at the bottom....and all you can hear is birdsong!!...see it really is paradise!! Easy to get to the local pub to dine out. Country lanes and trackways lead you deeper into nature from this site. The bathroom facilities were fine, perfect for what they are for. Easy access to water and all the rest. Well though out. Plenty of room between other pitches....not that they are marked out. If you want to get away from it all...this is your place of peace!! We would highly recommend this fabulous site. Fiona the owner was lovely and friendly. Thank you. Pat and Willow

A super site in the peaceful countryside

We enjoyed three nights here. It is quiet and relaxed with a really genuine welcome from Fiona and Mathew, who made no fuss when our friends, dog and young girl turned up for a cuppa in the sunshine. The addition of the polite friendly resident dogs made it for me. The only thing I would say is that the toilet and shower, although handy, has seen better days and grass clippings remain on the grass, for you to walk in to your caravan (but I'm being fussy now). For those tiny reasons I think it is quite expensive for a CL site. Had a fantastic meal at the Westbrook Inn which is just 15 minute walk over the fields.

Beautiful peaceful site to relax at and visit places from

I visited this lovely site in May 2021 and stayed for 6 nights. The site is easy to find , along a quiet road . It is well maintained with the grass cut regularly on a slightly sloping site. The bins and waste emptying are well organised in an enclosed area . The toilet and shower are great with plenty of hot water provided by a powerful shower. Good dog walking facilities, I was given the use of a paddock so my dog able to have a good run. The sheep with their lambs were in the next field and hours can be wasted watching them . Pheasants wandering around and chickens also on the site. The owners are really friendly and welcoming without being overbearing . Plenty of places to visit locally and all accessible by Motorhome . I would especially recommend Lacock, Caen Locks , Avebury and Bradford on Avon. I will certainly recommend this site and will return again Kim

Lovely setting but a few issues

Stayed on this CL in August and is a large site in a lovely setting. Despite being a large site the electricity hook up points are only on one side which with the five caravans allowed would be very congested in one area, luckily only 4 at the time of our stay but still felt cramped. The water tap in the hedge would have benefited from a hard standing and a resident dog that appeared to wander around the site left its calling card next to the tap. At time of arrival we were advised not to park in certain areas near our caravan as this would spoil the view for B&B guest staying at the Old Vicarage! We felt it was unnecessary for the grass to be cut by a tractor at 6.30 to 8 in the evening when we were sat outside eating and not even acknowledged by the driver. Site fees are ok but why charge an extra £2 for awning, should this not be included on a CL site. Due to the above issues we would not recommend or stay again.

Very average

The location is excellent for easy access to many places of interest and some good pubs. After the glowing reviews we had read we were hoping for something rather special, considering the high price. It turns out to be a rather average site, in spite of the provision of a shower/ toilet. This could have been used to display useful local information as many CL owners do, and thus made us feel more welcome. You have to make an effort to see the views.

Great site, great people

Had a wonderful stay here, we arrived in the dark and I unfortunately got the caravan stuck in the mud. The owners were so helpful, they were more than happy to come and rescue us. The showers were top notch. Better shower than I have at home! Great views and a great location. The dogs loved it, plenty of walks near by.

nice peaceful site

We stayed at this CL for 2 nights in November....and enjoyed being the only unit on site !! There are a number of walks direct from the site with the owners allowing us to walk out of the site through private paddocks and onto the network of public footpaths. There is a very nice shower and wc room which was warm and clean .The Westbrook public house is dog friendly and only a 20 minute stroll from the site...the site has no hard standings but the ground seems well drained ...the site is sloping so levelling blocks are a must for most areas but that was not a problem for us. All in all we will return and have booked to do so ........

Leveling blocks are a must. Otherwise all facilities are very good especially the shower block, which is more than adequately heated! Waste disposal well organised. Will come again.
