Lovely Seaside Site

We really enjoyed our stay here at Easter. The farmer was really helpful and friendly (so was his dog). The facilities were excellent with immaculate shower (20p) and toilet block. The site was beautifully maintained and best of all was the location; directly opposite a beautiful beach, lovely walks on the hills, waterfalls nearby, lots to do. We were blessed with fantastic sunny weather too!

Review

Just returned from this site our family and 2 other caravans in the same party. The site is exactly as described. We received a very warm welcome from the owner who showed us where everything was.  The shower facilities are excellent,  20 pence for a lovely hot 3 minute shower. Site directly opposite a gorgeous beach and walking distance to a pub. Would definitely recomend this site to everyone and will be returning.

Lovely site

Delightful site with neatly cut grass, clippings picked up. Warm welcome and explaination of site from the owner. Refuse and recycling area spotlessly clean as was the shower (20p) and toilet block. Wonderful view and equally wonderful sunset. Barmouth is a friendly little town also neat and tidy. There is free wifi in the station waiting room, the tourist information is there also. Mr Williams immediately cut back the branches from the tree overhanging our van which had been tapping on the roof during the overnight storm. A very well kept ampnd managed site, on our list for a return visit.

Absolute perfection

Put simply one of the best sites I have ever stayed at. Started with a warm welcome and quick tour of facilities. Was advised of local walks and shortcuts to the beach. Although I must be honest and say I struggled to listen as I was absolutely mesmerised by the view. Pitches are a bit tricky but only took a couple of blocks to level out. Sat for hours looking at the view of the sea. Walked for hours up the hills. Toilets and showers were spotless, grass was cut short and even after a heavy downpour was still dry thanks to the gentle slope. Beach is within a 5 minute walk. Shops and local town 5 minute drive. What more can I say? I can't rate this site any higher. If you haven't stayed here you are missing out!!! Best holiday for years !!  One last thing, if you have read any bad reviews about barmouth, ignore them. We were rather worried after reading some on trip advisor etc but they are not even close. It's a lovely town with lots of little shops. No litter. No graffiti. Everyone was very welcoming. The owner of Coast camping stores even opened up after closing to sell us a pressure valve for our hot water boiler even though I said I could wait til the morning. Absolutely fantastic, and a credit to the club.

holiday tour

On our arrival we were disappointed with the pitch spacings and it says slight slopping it should say very slopping as we nearly ran out levelling to set up the van.The owners dog came visiting frequently .The best thing about the site for us was the dog walk(having to dodge the owners dog). If we were to go again we would go to the camping club site in the next field (owned by the same )with better views and more room.

10 Days in June

We stayed on this site for 10 days from 15th-25th June and had a lovely time. The site is very well maintained, with friendly owners. You can tell the owner takes pride in the CL, neat and tidy piches with nicely mown grass, the refuse area was the cleanest we have have come across on a CL. All the pitches are hardstanding. There are EHU points to each pitch and four out of the five have taps adjacent. We chose pitch five which did have the largest area around it and got the sun all day but did not have the adjacent tap, this was not a problem as the other taps were close enough. Some caravans did have taps linked up but told us to take off their hose if we needed to use the tap. The views from the site are great the sea and beach in front and the hills behind. We do not have a dog so other caravanners on the site with dogs asked us if we minded the dogs being off the lead, we had no quibble with this as the dogs were extremely well behaved and were supervised by their owners. The resident dog on the site owned by Mr & Mrs Williams was also off the lead and she roamed around but again she was so well behaved we found it no problem she did not come near unless encouraged to. We saw no mess. We walked into Barmouth along the beach and back via the promenade and road. We went on stream trains, walked to waterfalls, around lakes and visited castles there was lots to see and do. The tourist information staff in Barmouth (in the train station) were helpful and a mine of information. The site owner John was also helpful with information and he also came to say goodbye on our last day. A site we would be happy to recommend to anyone.

Lovely relaxing site!

Just back after spending a week at this site. The sea views are gorgeous and the site is immaculate. There were one or two dogs on the site including our dog. But the owners were very considerate and newcomers were always asked if they had any objection to dogs and there was absolutely no mess anywhere to be seen! The pitches were a little close together but this seemed to encourage campers to speak to one another and created a very friendly atmosphere on the site. The site entrance is a little tight but, with care is no problem. Very peaceful, relaxing holiday and hope to visit again in the near future.

Pitches too close together!

Pre-booked 10 nights politely requesting end sea view pitch, via e-mail was allocated pitch 1 then pitch 5, but when we arrived there was only pitch 3 available. Spoke to owner on arrival and told pitches could not be reserved although we had 2 e-mails with reservation on. Our caravan was 3 metres from next caravan's awning, and this was the same for 4 of the pitches. 3 dogs on the site roamed freely, let out of caravans to run round un-observed urinating and 'soiling' on the grass, even though there was a dog walking area. Sea view was between a gap in the trees. The only spacious pitch is pitch 5, otherwise very 'crammed' as previous reviewer said. Unfortunately due to unforeseen family circumstances, we had to leave after 3 nights, we apologised for this but the owner was unsympathetic and was more concerned about the loss of pitch fees she would incur.

Handy for Barmouth - by car or cycle

We stayed here over May half-term so were only able to stay 2 nights as it was full when we booked in April. Nice location above the main road and railway so not too much noise. Hardstandings are set in the lawned area so you have to drive over the grass to get to them - we are fairly heavy but we didn't have too many problem getting to our spot. Our pitch did seem to be very close to the caravan next door, or perhaps they had a huge awning?! There is a Camping and Caravanning club CS site in the next field and facilities seem to be shared. Friendly owners, though we didn't need to bother them during our stay. We were able to cycle into Barmouth (on the road for a mile and then down a track to the promenade) and over the railway bridge, then down the Mawddach trail towards Dollgellau. It's a 2 mile walk otherwise. Barmouth is a bit tired with tacky seaside shops,, but there are good food stores, post office, library and free WIFI in the tourist info office.
