Fabulous well kept spacious cl with a warm welcome

Have just had a 3 night stay here, and trust me it wasn’t long enough and we will be back. The site is very spacious and well kept. Beautiful views and local walks. Both Sarah and her handyman Danny were very welcoming and helpful during our stay, recommending places of interest, great places to eat, nearby walks, local knowledge etc etc. Loved the little toilet, washing machine and tumble drying area, all very handy and well maintained. Loved the fact that it had a bin set aside for dog mess, all too often we have to take it out with us in the car to dispose of. Site is next to a road but it wasn’t overly busy so therefore it wasn’t noisy. We would highly recommend this lovely site and have already told some friends to try it. 100% we will be back as we didn’t get to see or do half the things that were recommended to us. One last thing a trip out to the cliff top cafe at Capel Le Ferne is a must, food and service is great but the views are amazing, thanks Danny for the recommendation. Paul and Alison from Essex

Lovely Site, Warm Welcome!

Stayed for 7 nights in August 2023. We originally booked for just 4, but decided - upon arrival - to book for longer as it was so beautiful. Received the warmest of welcomes, with advice on how to pitch, use of excellent facilities, etc. Nothing was too much trouble for Danny, the gardener - who was acting as site host while the owners were away. He was our hive of information regarding places to visit and the best places to eat and we also enjoyed chatting with him about the local wildlife. We even got to enjoy some delicious spare tomatoes and cucumbers - what a treat! TV reception was ok here & internet connection very good. O2 and EE mobile phone signals good, too. We towed a small car from our motorhome, so were in and out of the site quite a bit during our stay; whenever Danny was around, he would always open the gate for us and wish us a good time. Can thoroughly recommend this site for a feel-good holiday. Relax, unwind and Enjoy!!

Beautiful

Just stayed here for 4 nights and it was wonderful. Nice spacious pitches and very flat so easy to set up. Lovely owners who were very helpful and recommended some nice places to eat. Kids loved the swing and the resident cat Sun dance who was amazing with kids. Overall we had a wonderful holiday and hope to come back. Just be careful on the roads near to the site as they can be tight.

Lovely site

Just returned from 3 nights on this lovely CL. It is very well maintained with a very good toilet and watching machine block. It is peaceful and well located for exploring the coast. We didn't meet the owner but Daniel the handyman/warden was a friendly and well informed representative. It was our 5 year old grandsons first trip away with nanny and grandad and he loved the experience. We will be back.

Perfect pitch

Spent two nights at this lovely peaceful site. Facilities very clean and well thought out. Dan, the gardener, knows lots about the area and we enjoyed chats with him about the animals, birds and fauna. It made us smile to see the wild ducks respond to his calling, and Miss Sunshine his cat. If you visit the toad chorus along the canal has to be heard to be believed! We enjoyed the walking along the canal, but there are lots of different walks in the area but we did gentle walks, and came across Paul O’Grady’s grave in a little isolated church.

Great place to stay

We stayed here for one night and it was lovely. The hosts of the camp site were very friendly and accommodating. The site was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The views are great and we all had a great night away. I will defiantly be recommending this site to friends and family and we will be returning very soon Thank you.

Marred by noise

The Spinney is a large field adjacent to Giggers Green Road and 50 yards from the Royal Military Canal. It has views of the fields from all the pitches. It is also 100 metres away from some kennels. We were there for 19 nights from the beginning of May and at first I was dubious about the hook up and metering system-but all was well and the top up card was not needed despite us having the warm air heating on during the evenings and some mornings. The site is very well maintained with a washer and drier, an OS map of the area, various visitor leaflets etc. The gardener on site, Daniel (Wisley trained) needs a special mention. He is a credit to the place. Helpful, courteous, friendly and a purveyor of free eggs when he has too many! He can advise on all manner of things as well as opening the gate for you when he’s around. Thanks Dan, you were much appreciated. I can thoroughly recommend the site for stays of a week or less. The dog kennels are the reason why. The noise from there is very invasive. I didn’t notice at first but after a while the what seemed like continuous barking and occasional howling really started to grate. This can go on all day and sometimes into the late evening as well. This of course, is not the fault of the owner of the Spinney but is a real problem. Also be aware that the local farmers hate caravans with a passion and if you are faced with one whilst towing they will try their damnedest not to give way/slow down/reverse. This is from our experience. Another problem we had was with road noise. The site as I mentioned is adjacent to the road-it should be a quiet road but throughout the day isn’t. It’s a “rat run” to the coast. Again this isn’t the fault of the site owner but it ends up with the site not being quiet throughout the day and only in the night.

Stunning CL Site

We’ve just come away from 3 glorious nights stay at The Spinney (Oct ‘21). What an absolute gem of a site with Sarah and company giving us a lovely welcome (and foraged mushrooms for breakfast!!). The toilet block with one toilet and laundry facilities was spotless and very COVID safe. We generally don’t take our Motorhome out once we’re on site so cycled to Hythe, Dymchurch and even Dungeness from the site (Dungeness is a very long but flat ride. I would suggest only for fit cyclists) so easily accessible. Walking along the Military Canal is lovely too. The road alongside the site can be fairly busy morning and evening with locals going to and from work but we class sites as peaceful when it’s quiet at night time which this certainly was. Loved it!!!

A beautiful CL

Sarah greeted us on arrival and apologised as our pitch was blocked. We were shown an alternative pitch next door and was happy to pitch there instead. Smart meters have just been installed and you need to leave a £10 deposit for the payment card. The card has a payment of £5 on it in case you use the allocation given. We did and I am not sure how? It’s not explained how the daily allocation works and we ran out Sunday morning at 7.30 a few hours before we were due to leave. Unfortunately Sarah was unwell so we wasn’t able to find out when the system is reset. The site is well maintained and clean. If I could make one suggestion it would be to have a poop bin as dogs are more than welcome here. Unfortunately as we are light sleepers we was disturbed at 4.30 am by car doors slamming and driving off the site. For us the site was spoilt by the noise from Dog kennels up the road. There is occasional road noise but nothing that intrudes as much as the dogs barking down the road. Lovely walks nearby on the Military Canal. Just eat also deliver which is nice if you want a break from cooking. Overall a lovely site for a night or 2

Beautiful site on the edge of Romney Marsh

We stayed here in September for 10 nights and were made extremely welcome by Sarah and Danny who was here, there and everywhere with information and recommendations. The site access caused us no problem with an 8 metre van and 4.5 metre tow car. The site is extremely spacious, flat and with views towards Lympne Wild Life Park and Romney Marsh. The one slight downside is the road that runs past the site did generate some road noise. Sarah and her team have done a lot of work in improving the site and their hard work has paid off. For a CL, there is the addition of a toilet block (no showers) with laundry facilities which are kept clean and have hand sanitiser available. The Spinney is ideally located for visiting the southernmost reaches of Kent and is excellent value for money.
