Not a 5 van CL site
Visited this site in mid May. It is ideally situated for visiting local attractions and the beautiful countryside in Staffordshire. The lovely Canalside Farm cafe and farm shop are within a short walk, as its the canal and Clifford Arms PH. We enjoyed a lovely circular walk from the site, taking in Shugborough House grounds and the canal (about 1.5 hrs). My main problem with this site is that it is no longer operating as a CL. On our arrival there were already 5 vans plus a tent with more pitches available. Over the next day the number of units on site grew to 9 making it v busy and not at all like A CL. I did enquire with the owners about this, to which they said they had permission from the club. I would have expected to have been made aware of this on booking. You should also note that the pitch fee is now £20 as the Club site advertises it as £15. Apart from this moan this is a well layed out site that if you don't mind busy should be fine.
Comment from the Club:
Many thanks for your review and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. With regards to the CL Site, it was actually recently taken over by new owners. The new owners were unfortunately not passed on any details of your booking. The CL site itself is under refurbishment and will not be ready until July. In order not to disappoint you when you arrived, the new owner offered to pitch you on their nearby commercial site, which is why there were more than 5 pitches. The new owners are making it clear to anyone that phones them that the CL site is not available currently and we have updated the website listing with a message to advise if you have a pre-existing booking to contact the CL owner directly about this
