A good location geographically to visit Hull

We stayed a couple of nights in order to visit our daughter in Hull. Sadly, we found the site quite scruffy. It was covered in weeds, there was an old run down portocabin that made up our view and behind us, directly over the hedge is a large caravan storage facility. There is one tap and a bathroom toilet that stands outside, behind a gate that is the disposal point. Looks weird but does the job. Also, its close to a railway line which starts running early in the morning and a huge ugly power station that hums all through the night. Bit of a pong too. Didn't see any sign of the owner for the whole weekend but that was fine. We walked for 45 mins and never made it into the village, so its not very close and not a pretty walk. If, like us, you use it as somewhere to sleep whilst visiting family, its fine, but it is certainly not a beauty spot.

Dear Mr Barnes

I was saddened to read your review and your observations about our CL site and how they have detracted from the enjoyment of your stay.

From our initial telephone conversation regarding your booking enquiry, I emailed you details of the current measures we have on site due to the Covid situation including the track & trace information. I included my contact telephone number and encouraged you to ask if there was anything unclear or if you needed further help.

I am always available to our visitors by phone if not in person, especially due to Covid distancing and was in fact able to respond to your phone call regarding dates booked and a further voicemail, left whilst travelling, to clarify your pitch number when you couldn’t remember.

Our CL site consists of hard standing, ideal for motor homes, minimising the risk of getting stuck on wet grass. Each pitch also has an area of grass to the side, with some low ground cover over the rest of the hard standing. Our site gives a little taste of the fresh country side air.

The white Porto cabin is used for the storage of hay for the horses and nothing to do with the CL site. Caravan storage is openly listed in the CL site description and is semi camouflaged by a growing laurel hedgerow.

The one freshwater tap is adequate for a 5 pitch caravan site, along with a CDP point and tap with hose for rinsing.

Our description explains a footpath with street lights takes you from the site to the village and we are always willing to guide visitors when needed. The railway line is a coastal line running from Hull to Scarborough which many of our visitors find very useful.

CL owners often have CL sites to welcome visitors to their local area and to add income to the local economy. We charge £14 per night including electric; the site is in an ideal location to explore the area by foot, cycle, road, rail or ferry and isn’t advertised as a beauty spot.

Thank you for staying with us, I wish you well and hope that you find your ideal site.
