Yes, a lovely peaceful spot

I stayed here last weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm sure I'll be back. This is a very pretty area, which we had driven past to get to Snape and Aldeburgh on previous visits, and it's well-worth exploring. The lovely Tunstall forest is very close, as is the river, and the local roads were great for cycling in the sunshine down to the cafe on the quay at Orford. This site doesn't have a pub, shop or restaurant on the doorstep, so you will need to drive or cycle for provisions. I found all I needed in Orford, in the friendly little tardis that is the village store, and the cafes and pubs there. (For good food, I recommend the Crown & Castle). The pub at Snape Maltings also did a jolly good lunch. The site also has no washing-up facilities; something to be aware of if you're in a smaller unit like mine. But as others have said, it's got a lovely combined bathroom and shower room. You need £1 for the shower, but that gets you a luxurious 10 mins in pleasant surroundings! There is just the one bathroom, but it's a small site so I imagine you would seldom have to wait for it. All in all, one of my favourite small sites, and I look forward to returning with wife and dog after my initial solo reconnaissance!

It was a joy to stay at Tumbleweed - we will be back!

Just spent three lovely nights on this CL. The site is immaculate, the facilities spotless and the location is fabulous for exploring. Only a 10 minute walk to the footpath which takes you right around the estuary to Snape Maltings, idyllic and wonderful for walkers and birdwatchers. During our stay we visited Snape Maltings, Woodbridge and the ever evolving Sutton Hoo - all so easy to get to from Tumbleweed. Good value for money - we will be back thankyou.

Lovely Site

A lovely site with good facilities and an ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas of Aldeburgh, Southwold, Woodbridge, Orford and Snape. Good area for cycling too. Owners very friendly and helpful. Many of the other people staying were repeat bookings and we will be joining them. Happy to recommend and its definitely on our list of sites to return to.

Great CL

As many have said this is more of a very large lovely garden than the usual CL. We arrived after very heavy rain but the grass was not waterlogged. The owner welcomed us warmly and showed us around. Unfortunately it rained all night and by morning there was a little sogginess! The approach to the CL is along very narrow lanes. The shower costs 50p but offers plenty of hot water in a nice bathroom kept beautifully clean. As the CL is right in the countryside a car journey is needed to reach shops etc. Orford is nearby (10 ins drive) and is very pretty with lots of excellent eateries, the famous Pump St bakery, a general store, a beautiful castle, the riverside and Orford Ness.

A nice site but..........

As other people have mentioned this is a nice site, although there are rather a lot of trees, making it difficult to park without being under one, so if it rains you would get a lot of dripping from them. I'm afraid to say we didn't get the warm welcome that others have mentioned, perhaps we caught the owners on a bad day. Christine's cousin (who lives close by) met us as Christin was out, & she did make us feel welcome & showed us around. Christine did appear later and handed us a set of rules, one being highlighted in orange marker 'All pitches, including pre-booked must be paid for on arrival'. I think in 26 years of caravanning I've only been asked to do this on one or two occasions on a CL. At around 5pm her husband drove past our pitch (several times) on a grass cutter & not once did he acknowledge our presence, even though I held my hand up. Later that evening we saw him chatting away to some Motor-homers, so perhaps they're no keen on caravaners. Anyhow, I hope the owners read this review and make more of an effort in future, although I'm afraid we would not return.

Garden

This is a great CL. As someone else said, it is more of a garden than a field. Very attractive pond and plenty of space. The welcome was terrific and the owners could not have been more helpful. It is a cycle ride to the Maltings and there is very attractive church nearby. My only criticism is also a virtue - it really is peaceful and tranquil but as a result it is also remote - no pubs or shops nearby. If there was an overall rating of 4.5 it would get it.

Beautiful site

We arrived and found a perfect pitch over looking the pond. Soon had our chairs out to relax and enjoy the view with our new friendly neighbours. Christine was a delight explaining everything to us and making us feel very much at home. Facilities were second to none and would loved to have stayed longer but there was no room. We enjoyed a visit to a concert at the Maltings and trips round the area too many to mention. We will return to this site in the future not only because of the location but the owners are special people who's company we really enjoyed. Thank you for having so us and the boys ( dogs )

Lovely site

This is a lovely site - you're in a (very large) garden rather than a field.  There is a pond in the middle so lots of reeds and willow trees - it is very peaceful and picturesque.  Also, lots of trees makes for lots of birdsong which was lovely.  There was some farm traffic but not enough to bother us.  Christine doesn't keep hens any more so make sure to take your own eggs.  They made us very welcome and if needed there is a shower and toilet.  The site is beautifully kept and on a narrow one track road but there are quite a lot of areas to pull over when traffic comes the other way.  We biked quite easily to Orford Quay which was lovely.  It is on bike route 41.  There are also lots of footpaths to follow. There were two other motorhomes and a caravan on the site and they were really friendly.  It is rather in between villages so you need to do your food shop before you go or on the way.  Orford is about 4 1/2 miles away and has some pubs and a small shop. We would certainly go back there.

A WONDERFUL ESCAPE

We have recently returned from a two-week break at this delightful CL. Mr and Mrs Ridsdale were very friendly and helpful although it was a bit of a disappointment to find their free-range hens on strike for some of the time we were there! The facilities were of a very high standard and well maintained. The area is truly unspoiled and perfect for two of our activities - walking and cycling. The acid test - will we go back? Definitely!!
