Lovely peaceful site.

We have just returned fro a three night stay at this site. Very quiet and peaceful with virtually no light pollution if you are a stargazer. We were met by Eve and her husband who very friendly and informative and met Simon on the last night who was also very chatty. Good dog walks around, and not far from Leyburn with plenty of cafes, pubs, shops etc. The shower and toilet were always clean and we found 20p for 2 mins shower was plenty, particularly on a cold frosty morning. The field offers plenty of room for units, although sloping slightly but we were provided with plenty of blocks to level our unit. All in all a lovely peaceful site and we look forward to returning in the New Year.

Superb CL and lovely owner

This is a superb CL. SImon the owner is really lovely, friendly and helpful. It is a working farm this doesn't interrupt your stay. The site is on a bit of an incline but Simon has provided plenty of wooden chocks for members to use. The toilet and shower facilities are clean. There is plenty of recycling facilities and general waste. If Simon isn't around, there is sometimes Peter about to help. Otherwise just pitch up on the spot you want and other friendly caravanners will surely help. There are lovely walks around and even a good circular route without going onto a road. Another member said in their review it is only 10 amp electric, but this is not so. On pitch 1 there is a 10 amp a 16 amp. The member can't have plugged into the 16 amp. We have visited and stayed here a number of times now and will definitely be back.

A gem of a CL

This lovely CL is everything you could wish for - very easy access from both directions with plenty of room to manoeuvre on to pitches, clean toilet and shower block, good recycling facilities and beautiful views. We were welcomed and shown around by Peter and later, Simon. Both were pleasant and helpful and there if needed. We had no trouble at all with the electric supply. It is situated between Bedale and Leyburn so lots of places of interest nearby. Footpaths accessible from the site - a gentle half hour stroll to Finghall to catch the Wensleydale Railway. Visit The Forbidden Corner for a very different experience! We hope to go back soon.

Please Be Aware

The owner states that he has 16 amp electric but its only 10 amps.We found this out when late on one bitter cold windy & snowy night we turned the heating up and all the electric went off but we were only using 12 amps.We left the next day and found somewhere with A Truthful 16 amps so we could be warm.Had the weather not been as cold we probably would never of known but if it states 16 amp in the book and on the web page then it should be.This is one site we will not visit again.

Yorkshire at it's best

A lovely peaceful CL. Access is easy to the site, which is well kept. Pitches are of a good size, on a bit of a slope but easily sorted out, and it means you have a view over the valley. There is a 'rustic' toilet and shower should you need it, within which there is local information. Simon and his helpers were friendly and helpful. It is a working farm so you will see and smell animals ( and some farm machinery around) but it's country living which is what we've come for!! Wensleydale has much to offer, Hawes (great cheese and the rope works), Hardraw Force, Aysgarth Falls, Leyburn, Ribble Head Viaduct and miles of fantastic open countryside to name but a little. We would certainly return to this site if we come back to this area.

Superb site

Just enjoyed 7 nights at this cl. The owners were away but the chap in charge was very friendly & helpful. The site is very well kept with large pitches & stunning views across the valley. The shed in the picture housed a shower & toilet which were kept very clean. The owners have drawn a map of the area which shows the footpaths across the fields to the 3 pubs within walking distance which came in very handy. You can walk on the road to the pubs but the road is very busy & is without a footpath. The site is mid way between Bedale & Leyburn & is also very handy for visiting Masham, Richmond, Aysgarth & Hawes. The only downside was that there wasn't a shop within walking distance (we like to have a walk to pick up a morning paper). We don't usually make a return visit to a site but if we are back in this area we probably would return

A Little Gem

A lovely well kept site. The owners are friendly, welcoming, informative but not overpowering. The views are stunning and as the cattle were not in the adjacent field we were able to use that for the dog and for walking through.  Don't be put off by the facilities, they are clean and the shower is adequate, 40p was enough to shower and wash/condition my long hair.  Harvesting was in process during our stay and it's plain to see how hard the owners work and the site is well kept. It is a working farm and as such there are cattle and farm machinery around but certainly nothing that could spoil our stay, it only added to it. There were also pheasant and ducks in abundance on our walk over the adjacent land. A lovely base to visit Hawes, Leyburn, Ayesgarth Falls, Ingleton, Bedale and many other places. Our first time in a CL and very pleased with it.

Beautiful place

This is a fabulous site. The views make you realise why Yorkshire claims to be Gods own county, it's certainly true here in Wensleydale. Sitting watching over the valley on a bright day is far better than any TV can entertain. The Hard working owners Simon and Rachel are open, helpful and friendly. The facilities are very good with a small shower and toilet at the near end of the field. Toilet paper and soap is provided by the hosts. The shower is on a meter at 20p for 2 mins. I found 40p was plenty. This is a working farm so do expect some movement of farm machinery (not too near the CL area) but never intrusive. The sounds of the lambs and cows in the bottom fields is harmonious to your stay. The owners are also CC members and fellow caravanners so they know what your needs are and provide well for you. Over the valley (walkable at a stretch - owners can advise you) is the Queens head at Finghall, excellent venue with efficient and friendly staff and great food. The reverse view is over to your van and the farm. There is also the Wyvil arms just down the road but we haven't tried it as we love the Queens. Nearby are both Leyburn and Bedale and the Wensleydale (sometimes) steam railway from Leyburn. The railway also passes (at a distance) the CL though the trains are only every few hours and add to, rather than detract from, your enjoyment of the site. Constable burton hall is also very close by. Middleham and Masham also a few minutes away, But I shouldnt be telling you any of this .. If I want to have it all to myself.
