A wonderful site.

We can’t praise Uplands highly enough, as it’s a wonderfu. We reiterate the other reviews and when we revisit north Devon, we will definitely stay again. Thank you so much for making us so welcome and for having such an exceptional site.

Peaceful and tranquil

What can we say to add to all the other glowing reviews…? Thank you for a wonderful stay. Ok the weather wasn’t great but we had a lovely sheltered pitch and your facilities are fantastic. You think of everything! Your welcome pack was very well thought out - giving us all the information we needed. The bathroom was excellent and spotless, the shower nice and hot. All communication with our booking was easy and stress free. We loved our stay and look forward to coming back. Thank you Colin and team from Belinda, John and Elodie 🐾

A really nice place to stay

This is a great CL and very good value. All hardstanding pitches with views down the valley. Facilities include a shower and toilet which is very well kept. On arrival you are given a very helpful welcome pack and that sets the tone for a friendly, relaxing place to stay. Recommended!

Lovely quiet site

This is a lovely little site in a pretty village with a fabulous village pub. The owner of the site welcomed us on arrival & explained where everything was & gave us a useful information pamphlet. The shower & toilet are amazing! Spotless & spacious! There is a useful dog walking field in front of the pitches, not fenced but handy for the early morning & late evening walk. The village has a few good dog walks which we enjoyed while visiting. We had a top class meal at the local pub on one evening & were made to feel most welcome by the staff there. Would definitely recommend this site for a peaceful countryside stay.

A very friendly and peaceful site.

We booked this site after reading the reviews and we’re not disappointed we were met by Colin who showed us to our pitch and brought us a very welcome cuppa. The site is incredibly quiet and peaceful, toilet and shower room was spotless. Plenty of dog walks near by however we did not get to visit the Exeter Arm which was right next door, will definitely return to try the pub as it’s on our list for next visit. Thank you Clare and Colin we look forward to visiting you again.

Excellent!

From the very warm welcome from Jordan, including offering us a cup of tea, the spacious serviced pitch, sparkling bathroom, beautiful views and other thoughtful touches, we couldn’t have wanted for more! The bonus of walking distance to the lovely Exeter Inn and surrounding countryside made it a perfect stay for us. Thank you again, Clare & Colin!

Slightly Disappointed Unfortunately

We originally booked for 7 nights at Uplands but after contacting Clare & Colin we were able to start the break three days early. We weren’t blessed with very good weather unfortunately as it rained on nine of the ten days which as it happened turned out to be a good thing as we felt there was no real space to sit out comfortably after the caravan (average length single axle), car and porch awning were set up. We can understand why it’s not been done but Uplands really need to change the photos on the CAMC listing as our pitch which was on the right at the bottom of the drive is not now grass as shown. This grass has been removed and replaced with a full hard standing for two pitches. It is not gravelled however, it is a compacted hardcore with some rather large sharp stones on top - our awning carpet has been damaged by a couple of these and they really are very hard and sharp underfoot. Due to the rain, we ended up treading in red mud from the the hard standing into the caravan. We do feel a little misled as the pictures on the listing don’t show it as it really is. Everything else is positive with the ‘Stable’ which is the washroom block being immaculately kept and a bit of luxury for a CL. The Exeter Inn is a few yards down the road and the food is excellent there - we also visited The Bell at Chittlehampton which was lovely also and has a much larger menu than the Exeter Inn. For Golfers, the Highbullen Hotel Golf & Country Club is half a mile down the road but due to development of 58 holiday lodges, this is only a 9 hole course now which is across the road from the hotel. Be aware that it is a half mile walk to the first tee because of this! Surrounding roads are very narrow but there are plenty of passing places so get used to stopping regularly to let vehicles pass, but this is the same in many counties and certainly not unique to Devon. We shopped in Barnstaple which is around half an hour away although there is small community shop in the village for essentials and a few houses have eggs for sale at the end of their drives with honesty boxes - lovely golden yolks! There is a lovely dog walk mown into the tall grass on the hill in front of the pitches which our Labrador loved! In conclusion, it is a lovely quiet site with immaculate facilities and really friendly owners, just make sure you ask for one of the better pitches.

Just superb!

At short notice, we were after a ‘get away from it all ‘ break. This CL was spot on. Great welcome from Clare. Showed us to our pitch and talked us through the facilities. The peace and quiet is amazing. All you can hear is the wind in the trees and wildlife. The view from all the pitches is across a valley. Almost nothing man made in sight. The facilities on site are stunning. One bathroom with everything you need in it. Water and electric to every pitch. I feel i have to mention the village pub too. We turned up at the Exeter Inn, hoping to eat but without a booking. They were really busy but somehow found us a table and sorted us out. Brilliant service This is one CL that we will return to. Thank you

Uplands stay

Immaculate CL with a warm welcome, tea and biscuits and lots of local information. Brilliant value with idyllic views and good facilities. The local pub is just around the corner with excellent food and atmosphere (book to eat and check opening hours). Would recommend!

Lovely Site

Lovely site, great welcome from Colin. Very clean and tidy, toilet/washroom spotless. Worst thing was the red soil as it gave the carpets and red tinge! Super field for dog walking. The Exeter Inn down the road done a good selection of food at reasonable prices, you need to book pub as really busy.
