Super site!

Uplands is a truly delightful site and well worth a visit. On our arrival Claire and Colin were so welcoming and continued to be most thoughtful and accomodating throughout our stay. Within 5 minutes of arriving we were given tea, coffee and a selection of biscuits. Definitely 5***** treatment. The site is in a beautiful village with a Community run shop and a quaint village pub. There are some super walks direct from the site which take you through woodland or the rolling countryside. For those of you who have dogs, there is also a smashing dog walk onsite. Colin and Claire ensure that the site is immaculate, the rubbish area emptied daily and the toilet bathroom area is spotless. An exceptional site. Ruth and Phil

Highly recommended!

On our arrival at this family run site we, and our little dogs, received a very warm welcome and a lovely Welcome Pack. It is a very peaceful site in the heart of the Devon countryside with beautiful views. Uplands is in easy walking distance of a Country Hotel (High Bullen) with a golf course and a bar that is open to non-residents, a local pub (The Exeter Inn) which has a very well stocked bar and offers excellent home-cooked food and a lovely little Community Shop. Both the hotel and the pub are dog friendly and there is a large dog walking area on site, plus many walking routes from the village. The facilities on site are excellent and very well maintained and the owners are only too pleased to help with any queries and information. We were able to help ourselves to fresh raspberries that were growing on site too. We only wish we could have stayed longer but this is a popular site and we were lucky to find a couple of nights that were free. We are actually not very far away and we enjoyed our break so much that we will definitely be returning. Thank you to Clare, Colin and Jordan for your hospitality. You have not seen the last of us, or of Micky and Shelby!!

A True Get Away Site

This site is in a very peaceful spot, well away from anything busy. The little village is pleasant with a nice old thatched pub and a community shop, both a short stroll from the site. There's a good hotel within easy walking distance for lunches, cream teas etc., you can take a dog to both the pub and the hotel (except the main dining rooom.) At present you will need to book well in advance. If you need to walk the calories off there are lots of local footpaths, through woods and fields. An ideal spot to switch off from things! The facilities are good and well organised plus an excellent large dog walking area. Lovely views! The welcome pack and directions were excellent. We had a nice welcome from Jordan, many thanks to the Court family for our relaxing stay.

Weekend stay for a Wedding nearby

We stayed a Friday & Saturday night for a nearby wedding and Uplands provided perfect location for this. We were greeted by Jordan and provided with Tea/Coffee & Biscuits which was a lovely welcome touch. The email directions were fantastic and welcome pack very detailed. The bathroom facilities were spotless. There was a Freezer where you could keep food (which is a great touch). We visited the village pub (you need to book ahead, which we did) and had a lovely meal and the staff were all very welcoming - a really relaxed evening. There is a community run shop 2 minutes walk from your pitch if you need any essentials. We didn't bring our awning as was only staying 2 nights but put out our sun awning, the ground is very hard, the only criticism I have is the pitches are on large stones, may damage some ground sheets/footprints of awnings and a little awkward to walk on, other than that it was perfect, and fabulous views. Thank you

Don't Forget your Rock Pegs!!!

What a lovely site. We stayed for a week in July and great hospitality from our hosts meeting us on arrival and ensuring we knew where everything is. You can pitch the caravan either longways or side ways on your designated pitch which is a nice touch. If you are putting up an awning you need some very strong rock pegs. (I must have bent 6 or 7 of mine) The site has a great location but please read the directions to the site that Colin and Clare provide as Sat Nav may send you up some alarming single track roads. Although you have water and electric at each pitch you have to empty the waste water in the soak away opposite the caravan. Although not a great inconvenience it would be great if they put in grey water waste drain to each pitch as you invariably forget about emptying the waste master causing a flood. Golf course 200 mts one way and the local pub 50mts the other way. The pub is a very welcoming having 3 or 4 ales to try and lovely staff that made you feel welcome. The food is good pub grub for the money without being exceptional. (We really loved the pub and the comment about the meal has only been made as where we stopped the previous week, the local put grub their was a similar price but a better standard) Hopefully we will return and thank you to Colin and Clare for a great stay.

Peaceful and Spacious

This is our second visit to Uplands and it is up there with the best. Colin and Clare are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. The pitches are spacious, with water and electricity on each pitch. There are lovely views and the site is very peaceful. Thank you Colin and Clare for a very relaxing break we look forward to visiting again,

Lovely peaceful site

Friendly hosts, provided with personalised information pack on arrival. Very quiet and peaceful site with good views. Good recycling facilities and each pitch has its own water supply. Only criticism is that Pitches 1 and 2 are very close together and no strip of grass to separate them like pitches 4,5 and 6. All hardstandings, but very short, so if you are a longer unit you will need to pitch lengthways as opposed to the 'standard', but this is not an issue. Slightly sloping pitches so chocks required. Approach to site is on a lot of narrow roads with few passing places.

Top Marks All Round!!

Uplands is nestled in the heart of beautiful Devon countryside with the pitches enjoying lovely views across the valley. Clare and Colin made communication with them very straightforward from booking, directions (ensure you follow them!!) and a warm welcome on arrival. There is a toilet and shower - all looked very clean but given the present conditions, we chose to use our own facilities. The pitches are level but tend to be wide and shallow meaning that unless you have a very short outfit, you will need to pitch sideways. The big bonus is water to every pitch so no filling up of barrels. The other big bonus is an excellent pub - The Exmoor Inn- in walking distance. All in all, a good site and one to which we will return - just hope to have better weather.
