IDYLLIC FARM SITE July 2016

Probable the best kept farm we've stayed on. Friendly welcome from Martin and Pauline. Absolutely beautiful position, as peaceful a CL you could find. Lovely pubs near by and Broughton for local produce and goodies less than 10 mins away. A great location for South Lakes and coast, will be back when next passing through. Phil and Nina.

what a gem

Have spent five nights at this site as was very impressed. Martin and his wife was very friendly and helpful. The site is a working farm with all the activities involved with farming, which did not spoil the peaceful atmosphere. There are wonderful scenery and you are not far from any of the attractions. We will certainly return.

Delightful!

We really didn't want to leave this great CL. Beautiful scenery & a great location for touring the Lakes. All the pitches are hard standing & a good size. Martin & his family are very pleasant & happy to advise you on walks etc in the area. Highly recommended.

Stunning views

We stayed for 2 nights and would like to have stayed longer, the site has stunning views. Martin is very friendly and always has time for a chat. We walked from the site into Broughton along the road and back along the old railway track, a nice circular walk. The quaint Blacksmiths Arms is .75 mile down a very long hill, well worth popping in for a drink or bar snack.

Great break - June 2015

This is an excellent CL, on a working dairy farm, with superb facilities.  Martin (the farmer) is a real Cumbrian character. I agree with all the previous reviews and have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the site to other club members.

Great CL

As others have said this is a great CL with everything that you will need at hand.  Martin enjoys a good chat and points out all you need to know about the area. Can see why people would want to return and highly recommended.

Great Spot

We stayed for 12 days at the start of May and thoroughly enjoyed it. The toilet and shower were brilliant and never had to wait even though there was normally four the five pitches taken. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Find the village of Broughton as soon as you can as there is great local shops like the bakers, butchers, greengrocers and P.O. come newsagents.

Happy to be back.

We have stayed here many times and always been greeted by Martin with a smile and laughter, Laughing  feels like coming home. Stayed for three weeks in April and were very lucky with the weather. If you want a first class base for walking then this is the site for you. Cannot fault anything about this CL. Could not give full rating for peace & tranquility because this is a working farm, but having said that it did not spoil our stay, that's why we keep coming back. Be sure to visit the Blacksmiths Arms for fantastic food.

Upper Hawthwaite Farm CL

Just had a lovely week at this very pleasant CL site despite a very mixed bag of weather. As others have said a very tidy farm with very good amenities if you choose to use them. The hardstanding pitches came into their own after a lot of heavy rain. Lovely views & the little lane up the hill is great for a quiet evening stroll.Though in a quiet area, you weren't far from all the attractions this part of the lakes has to offer. The Duddon valley , Tarn Hows & Coniston of course were all worth visiting. Had some nice pub meals nearby. The owner was a lovely chap who met us on arrival & explained everything you needed to know. Can highly recommend.
