Blown Away!!
We have a Motorhome and needed a one night stopover en route further south. We tour a lot and have stayed at over 100 sites in the last two years. On so many occasions, we have asked each other why things aren't better on the sites we've stayed at. After all, how much can it take? Decent sized pitches, level hard standings, easy to access water and Elsan points, EHUs as standard and a bit of TLC with the overall appearance of the sites. On so many occasions standards have been way off the mark. But not here! Venn Farm has a good web site with email or telephone booking. A prompt reply confirming the booking was good (despite us giving only a few hours notice!). This is a beautifully presented site with well trimmed grass, some of the largest pitch sizes we've stayed on - all gravelled and level, fresh water to each pitch and grey waste to each one too. A grey waste 'drive over drain' for our Motorhome was a bonus. Each pitch has EHU and a picnic bench. Free wifi was unexpected and the TV signal was excellent. So we pitched up, plugged in, put the kettle on and went to pay Andy at the house. What a friendly chap...made us feel most welcome and presented us with a professionally produced leaflet describing the site and the amenities. To top it all, we were given half a dozen free range eggs as a welcome gift with a "Welcome to Venn Farm" label on the box. If I knew how to, I would nominate this as CL of the year. It deserves it!! Well done to the owners...you have ticked all the boxes at Venn Farm and somehow managed to keep the price at a very reasonable £12!! This is the standard to which all CLs should aspire.
Well earnt R & R
I must firstly applaud one the previous reviewers Jennys Jaunts for absolute gem of directions to arrive on site from A30 southbound ( SPOT ON ).Anyway back the site,I must say it is one the most pleasing cl,s we have used.the pitches are level & hardstanding, the grass kept well manicured an the mains water and waste water services are ideal.the recycling a green touch, but i cannot understand why the local council do not recyle metal cans etc.The woodland dog walk is by far the best we and the dogs have had the pleasure of using. As has been said before the ground is clay and does not drain very well on the grass.television reception is brilliant, free wifi great, the bird feeder a focus of amusement with pied woodpeckers, great tits, bramblings, and of course the obligatory squirrel, highly entertaining. All in all highly recommended worth going, and Andy,s lovely dark brown fresh eggs are not to be missed. we will revisit again I,m sure !
