Hogmanay Stay

A bit of a late decision Hogmanay stay for 5 nights, taking a punt on the weather being this side of acceptable! Booking on the website very straightforward and a very quick thankyou message came through from Karina for the booking. Lots of information both messaged and on the website, both about the site and about the area. As other reviews have said, the site is excellent. Aspects such as the water taps having covers to help prevent freezing, the recycling is very easy, the wi-fi was the best I've ever used on a site, all makes things that bit easier. Facilities all as described, well kept, clean and tidy. Remember your blocks, they will be needed, but with the hard standing no problem in using them. With the electric being on a meter I like paying for what's used, much fairer, especially in winter! The site is easy to find with good signposting. The views are great over to Orkney; we even got an aurora, albeit a minor one, and were messaged about it from Karina/Jo. Both were very friendly and helpful, and forgiving of my rubbish manoeuvring when parking to face into the wind, apologies again! Will definitely use the site again if and when we're up that way. Thankyou to both.

Wonderful

This site was fantastic. The pitches were very spacious with electricity, water and waste , and with amazing views of the sea and surrounding landscape. The hosts were so welcoming in fact Jo made us smile every time we saw her happily peddling up and down, the lane. The area it’s self had loads to offer from long sandy beaches, to historical sites. We also had some lovely walks directly of the site. Wick offered, a shopping outlet , with a b and m , Tesco’s , pets at home. The added bonus for anyone with dogs , was the enclosed dog field. Overall we stayed 7 days and I could have stayed longer.

Beautiful site.

Crofters snug is a well laid out site with stunning views. Fully serviced pitches and and a really great informative website giving ideas of things to do in the local area and places to eat. We did the day trip to Orkney from John o Groats and think it is a great way to sample what it has to offer in a day. The walk to Castle Mey and the castle itself were great. Jo and Karina were lovely hosts very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again. 😊 Janette and Ron Pell

Got to be our number one site in scotland

the view from the pitch is breath taking looking out to Orkney islands and with binoculars you can just see the top of the old man of hoy. we were welcomed to the pitch within minutes of arrival even helped setting up. we walked to the castle of mey gardens and to the cliffs overlooking the men of Mey and Swona (not sure of spelling) uninhibited island except for sheep!. a wonderful stay. we will be back. Fantastic

One of the best CLs we have stayed at. Jo and Karina are the perfect hosts. They can’t do enough for you. The site is kept immaculate. The views can’t be beaten. We will definitely be back this year. Love it!

Our favourite CL

This CL is perfect in every way. It has amazing views, large gravel hardstandings, good website and great communication and information from Karina and Jo. The photographs on here and on the website really do do it justice. Lovely walks from the site. The Castle of Mey down the road is well worth a visit. We saw our first sea otter at the beach here. We have now stayed here with our caravan three times and will definitely return.

Brilliant CL you must stay here.

I had in mind the review I would write but Jande8's review below is exactly what I was going to add here. We are on a tour of Scotland in a caravan, and this site is just something else. If you are thinking of coming to this area , do book this site you will not be disappointed. Thanks to Jo and Karina for a lovely stay.

One of the best

The Crofter’s Snug was the 22nd consecutive CL we stayed on since returning to the UK in March, and I can genuinely say it was one of the best. It is a small immaculately kept site with five hard standing ehu pitches, with easily accessible fresh water pick-up and black & grey dump. It’s on a very quiet back lane so virtually no road noise. Just what you would expect of any good CL. However…it has stunning views across the Pentland Firth to Hoy and Mainland Orkney, with Dunnet Head to the west and the isle of Stroma to the east. There is a lovely beach ½ mile to the west (just under the Castle of Mey) and a great clifftop walk around St. Johns Head to Scotland’s Haven tidal pool, to the east. But… what really made it for us was the warm welcome and the accommodating attitude of owners Jo & Karina. Nothing was too much trouble for them with their ‘can do’ approach to ensuring their guests are well looked after. That’s what made it special for us, and we were extremely appreciative for their efforts. Give the site a go, you’ll love it.

CL sites don’t come any better than this…

The Crofter’s Snug CL site is simply fantastic…the views across the Pentland Firth to the Orkney’s are so stunning we could have spent all of our stay just looking out of our caravan window watching the changing scene and passing ships. However there was exploring to be done and The Crofter’s Snug provided the perfect base to explore the north east and north coasts of Scotland respectively (inc John O Groats, Dunnet Head, Dunnet bay and Duncansby Head and Stacks all a little more than a stones throw away. Lovely hard standing pitches with dedicated tap to pitch and and a dog exercise field was a real boon for our beagles too With super friendly and welcoming site owners in Jo and Karina we will definitely return in the future and do not hesitate to recommend this CL to all.

Superb

What a super site, perfectly set up and wow what superb views. Karina and Jo are both lovely and helpful. , Site very close to Castle of Mey and if you walk a little further to the harbour you can see the seals basking on the stones or swimming in the water. Thurso, Wick and John o Groats easy to get to from the site. If you book a stay on this site you won’t be disappointed
