Hidden gem

lovely little 5 van site, well kept, right in the middle of the countryside tho we never got woken by the cows, sheep, chickens, rabbits in the fields right next to us..... eggs for sale in a box on site! Each good size pitch has its own tap. Right round the corner is the pub, really good home cooked 'proper' meals, highly recommend. AND a good pint too! the pub and the village homes surround the cricket pitch, just wish we could have been there when a match was on. Next time. The only downside for us, hence 3 stars, is there are no walks except on the roadside and we have a motorhome and two dogs but we did walk into Bedale 3 miles away, lovely market town, on the road and it was easy with not many cars passing. Buses run to Bedale and Masham Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays although theres no marked bus stop in Thornton Watlass. Timetable on village hall. NOTE: if youre travelling from Bedale - turn first right to village, ....from Masham take second left which is a bit wider and a lot shorter than the road as directed in the book. A little gem of a site, we will definitely return!
