Small site, interesting place, pub very close!

Having read all the glowing reviews for this site we were disappointed with what we found. The site is compact and sloping, but some flat pitches. All basic facilities are close to hand and work ok, but the chemical toilet emptying place is smelly and not nice to use, with no place for getting rid of grey water (sign says run it off at the edge of the site, which in such a small place is not nice) and adds to the slightly grubby feeling about the site. There are no sea views, which is a shame, our pitch looked at the pub car park and bins, with the power station looming over the trees (other pitches might have had better views). The power station itself is obvious, but not intrusive, but all the cars going into and out of the power station a couple of hours at either end of the day, as well as lots of people trailing to the beach car park and back, all day and into the evening makes it constantly noisy and busy feeling. It feels like it should be quiet, but it really isn't. However, the wide open single beach is very close, and great for dog walks. Pub food is good value, fresh cooked, traditional and filling with veggie options. Its close to lots of interesting places to visit, and plenty of shops nearby in Leiston.
