Studied the reviews as we always do, picked the site for so many reviews as peaceful. Arrived Sunday for a 2 night stay it was lovely and so peaceful, 4 other vans on site no noise whatsoever from them. We awoke on the Monday morning our only full day, to the sound of workmen and power tools from a property next to the site. We left the site for a trip to Keswick at 9.30 returned at 13.00, thought we’d have a lovely peaceful afternoon back at the site. Not to be, returned to workmen with their work bench’s outside the property they were working on, loud music and constant power tools. We tolerated this for couple of hours then felt we had to leave the site for some peace. I txt the site owner who responded quickly, he had just left to go on holiday but informed he he does not own the property which is right next to the site field but he would try to contact his neighbours. He was very apologetic and did offer another another night. Tuesday morning as we left again more power tools. I’m sure everyone can empathise with how disappointing such a trip is, we really needed a relaxing short break we are self employed have usual stresses of daily life and have a very recent bereavement. From this stay I now will ask the question before booking does the site owner know of any planned works, it’s not something I expected on booking a CL.
