This little site is just about perfect for visiting historic Yorkshire.

This 3 van site is just about perfect for visiting several historic Yorkshire towns. Not far from J48 of the A1(M). True it is very small and 3 caravans just about fill the very sheltered space up. Two slabbed hard standing's with just enough room for porch awnings and a third grass pitch, all tucked inside tall trees and hedgerows. The delightful owner was both welcoming and helpful. Facilities are basic but there is an exclusive use loo (except closed temporarily due to Covid rules). Admitted, there is a bit of local traffic noise but don't let that detract from this lovely little site. Only 100 metres from the site there is a splendid local nature reserve that extends over quite a large area of wetland. Take your binoculars because there are bird hides and vantage points surrounding 2 large ponds / small lakes and hard surfaced paths throughout so it's accessible to all abilities. Dog's on leads within the reserve but there is a large orchard area where the dog's can have a run around. Then within around 1/2 an hour you have the choice of visiting Harrogate or Knaresborough or Boroughbridge or Ripon. A little further and you have both the North Yorks Dales or the North Yorks Moors and for a day trip the Yorkshire coast from Hull up to Whitby. We stayed for 6 nights in September and had a great time touring round. We will return again. If nothing else this site is a great stopover point if you're heading further north on your travels along the A1(M).
