Great CL

We are just back from our second stay at this lovely, well appointed CL. The views are great and the sheep and lambs in the adjoining field certainly kept us entertained. The site is only minutes from the A68 but is peaceful and relaxing. We will certainly be returning.

A convenient site for all things Roman

Please follow the directions carefully, albeit it is just of the A68! Easy access to site with a large gate onto the pitches. Sadly, our first impressions weren't great due to there having been a lot of recent rain. This meant the grass either side and in front of our pitch was long and VERY soggy and got really bad over the 2 weeks we stayed meaning muddy shoes! We often saw random Moho vehicles turn up to use the Elsan which is outside of the gates close to the road, which sadly could do with a good clean. The views over the valley were pretty and there is easy access to all the local Roman heritage sites. Please give the Beamish Living Museum and Kielder Forest a visit. You will not be disappointed. When Richard was around, he was very friendly and I'm sure in the summer months this is a very pretty site.

Well appointed site

A perfect site , Not too close to anywhere. But lots to do and see not to far away. Serviced pitches, You just need to empty your toilet and that's a pleasure as the area is easily accessed and clean. We stayed for 10 night's in June 23. We will have definitely be back.

Lovely CL

We spent 10 nights here at the beginning of April. Wonderful views and the sheep and lambs kept us entertained. As March had been so wet the grass surrounding the hard standing pitches was very wet and the grass long. Care was therefore required when pitching to make sure you didn't drive onto the grass. Disappointing the Council hadn't allowed the owner to have a recycle bin we had to take it to Hexham recycling centre. Otherwise an excellent site. Will certainly return.

Weekend break

Nice weekend break, nice views across the surrounding countryside and nicely laid out side with all the facilities we needed. Easy drive into Hexham and we used the go ape facility at matfon which is recommended. Little road noise from the passing road behind the site otherwise no complaints at all and would use again. Thanks again Richard.

Lovely CL

We stayed on this CL for a week in October 2022. We were visiting family who only lived 20 minutes away and also gave us an opportunity to explore the area. CL is easy to find and has good wide double gate access. We have a 8ft wide twin axle and there were no issues. Great views of the valley with amazing sunrises and sunsets. Each pitch has fresh water and waste water disposal. The site is perfect for exploring the area. We did a lovely circular walk around the woodlands at nearby Wallington House ( National Trust.) The Northumberland coastline is beautiful and most beaches are dog friendly. We were advised to go to Newbiggin by the Sea ( by St Bartholdmew’s Church) as there are often dolphin sitings. The towns of Corbridge, Morpeth, Alnwick and Hexham are all worth a visit.

Centre for Hadrians Wall

First time visit, usually use Nunnykirk. Wanted to be central this time to explore. This fits the bill. Easy access just yards past the the Telecom Mast. Gate is wide and choose your hardstanding, virtually level and room to turn around. Each pitch has water and waste, the electric is between pitches so no problem. Views are superb. Trees make a good windbreak. Only a few miles to Corbridge for shops. Nearest Roman remains are Chesters fort. Roads run near the site giving access to Newcastle, Hexham, the Military road for Hadrians wall, A68 to Scotland (making it a good stopover) is yards away. I must point out that you can hear the traffic in the day but it didn’t disturb us. At night it’s quiet and we heard the owls. If it hadn’t been a full moon (which was superb) we hoped to see the Aurora. Richard let’s you exercise your dog in the field next door, the road does have some fast traffic on it. We were treated to a cycle race passing when we were there. Definitely coming back.

Easy to find and access

Just spent 5 nights here and really enjoyed the fully serviced pitches, makes life very easy! The site was easy to find as an additional sign has now been placed on the left hand side of the road, and the belt of trees is a good landmark. Access was easy with a good size entrance on the road, and plenty of space to stop clear of the road to open the double gates into the site itself. Toilet emptying and rubbish disposal are situated in a screened area between the gates and the road. Each pitch has its own tap and drain, EHUs are on a shared post between pitches. There are 7 hardstandings to choose from, each can take a caravan and awning, and there is plenty of grass between the pitches to park on as the hardstandings are well spaced. The grass was not particularly long and was cut while we were there. The owner visited on the evening of our arrival to check all was OK and collect payment. The site has excellent views over the surrounding countryside. We found plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area......sites along Hadrians Wall.......a few NT properties........Hexham for the interesting Abbey and excellent shopping. And if you are a walker the possibilities are numerous.

A bit disappointing

Good location for visiting Hadrian’s wall.

Pitching is on rough loose shale and the grass was very very long when we visited in late April, it looked very scruffy.

No contact with the owner (not that we need it) but it made payment tricky and had to leave cash on a table in a unlocked room.

Fantastic location.

What an amazing week at this site. It couldn't have been more peaceful with fantastic views for miles. An outstanding location to get about as much of Northumberland as you want. Loads to do and great walks if you want them or just completely relax. We will definitely be back.
