Our first visit

This was our first visit to Hayling Island and we've just spent 5 nights at Westcroft. The field is beside the stables and all the activity that entails. There is limited hardstanding and if you pitch here during the wetter months of the year, the ground may be too soft, in which case the hardstanding will be crowded. The electric hookup for all 5 units is located at the lowest corner of the field so I would recommend an extension lead to be able to pitch away from the crowd. Yes the toilet is basic, located in the stable yard, but if you don't like that you don't have to use it. If you don't like long grass then stay on a manicured club site. We really enjoyed our stay. The site is just a short walk from the Hayling Billy Trail on which you can walk or cycle north passed the many wading birds etc on the mud flats and oyster beds to the harbour and beyond to the marina if you wish. If you go south you can eventually end up at the shingle beach. Just outside the site is a bus stop with buses every 15 minutes travelling either north to Havant or south to the beach. The nearby Esso garage has a Spar, there are also farm shops nearby or more shops nearer the beach for all your essentials. There are also pubs along the road serving food. The road is busy, but in October with windows closed we didn't hear the noise from inside our van. We'll definitely be back to visit Hayling Island again.
