Good location for exploring Shrophire

Great peaceful site for exploring Shrophire -Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Ironbridge & Bridgenorth all within easy reach. Watching the resident Barn Owl hunting over the CL field (left natural for this reason) was superb. Easy pitching. Owners very friendly and communication via e-mail during booking was very good. The site was easy to find and access to/from the main road was also trouble free. Worth a re-visit.

Peaceful

Have visited several times and seen the improvements on this field over several years. The pond will enhance the site giving even more reason to just be lazy and stay on site. The barn owl sweeping low towards the caravan is thrilling. The owner is friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We keep returning as the local attractions and scenery change with the seasons. Would recommend at least 2 visits at per year!

Peaceful and convenient.

Easy access onto site from main road. Quiet site with nice views across open country and a view of the pond over to one side. Various walks directly from the site over fields and through woodland. Very friendly and helpful welcome from the staff on site. We found the grass short. There is a slight slope upwards towards the barn wall where the electric points are positioned but we have a motor mover so had no problems getting into position. A very pleasant plus was the lack of light pollution which meant lovely stargazing on the 2 clear nights we had (despite getting snow, hail, heavy rain and sunny blue skies during our 4 night stay). Didn't use site facilities. A convenient position meant we could easily access Bridgenorth, Much Wenlock, Ironbridge, Acton Farm, Craven Arms and Ludlow. So much to see in this general area that we will certainly be making another visit to Weston House. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

Convenient CL for local places of interest

I believe that Weston House CL offers a good choice for a visit to lovely Shropshire. It's not too far from any of the local places of interest - Severn Valley Railway, Ironbridge museums or the historic town of Bridgnorth. The CL is small and quiet, the grass is well maintained and the welcome warm friendly and helpful. It was also easy to access the site from the main road. I accept that wi-if access isn't great in this area, but the owner assured me that she will be removing this facility to avoid disappointment.

In need of TLC

Have returned from a 3 day stay at CL Peaceful location and easy access from main road--the plus side Unfortunately, very wet conditions during visit The hard standing provided is a misnomer-barely adequate Caravans are pitched along the outer wall of barn/workshop with limited space between them.Streams of water cascaded from the broken guttering of the barn, adding to the already very muddy state.resulting in the pitches degenerating even further into quagmire like conditions. Facilities(an extra £2.00 per night) poor Hot water tap broken and waste paper bin not emptied (refer to some previous reviews) The facilities building was tired and dispiriting

If lucky,WI-FI is accessible, somewhere vaguely near the entrance gate

Overall,this CL was a disappointment.

Comment from The Club:

Thank you for your review. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the peaceful location of our site, and hope you had a lovely holiday. We do, however, regret to hear that the wet conditions were unsuitable for you. The rainy weather at the time meant that the pitches did not have time to drain out, and so were fairly spongy at the time of your arrival. Our shower facilities are offered to all visitors for an extra £2 per night, and are an optional extra to your stay, we apologise that you did not find these up to standard. I would welcome you to contact us directly should you wish to discuss your experience in further detail.

We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back to experience the high standard of service we have become known for.

Kind Regards,

Weston House CL

Beautiful Location

We had a lovely long weekend, the views are beautiful. We didn't use the site facilities so I can not comment on those, but the grass was kept short, the owners very friendly and approachable and there is lots to do and see in the surrounding area.

Missed opportunity

Just spent 4 nights at this CL and was disappointed at the condition of the shower room. It is obvious that it has not had a good clean for some while, the container for used paper towels was not emptied during that period and there was no toilet roll for the last 2 days. On the positive side it has a very effective electric shower but with a little effort and attention it could be so much better.

Comment from The Club:

Many thanks for leaving a review and we are sorry to hear that you did not feel the facilities were up to the usual high standard members have come to expect and appreciate on this CL Site. The owner apologised at the time of your stay but regrets not giving you a full explanation as to the situation. Her son, who helps run the CL Site, was very ill in hospital at the time of your stay. Unfortunately during a very stressful and worrying time, the normal high standards had slipped and she apologises that this affected the enjoyment of your stay on site. Having happy customers is really important to the Site owner and they work hard to continuously make improvements to the site to ensure people have a wonderful time when staying here. During the last month they have created a large pond on site, and are looking forward to an exciting period as new wildlife move in to join their resident barn owl and kestrels.

my stay

we arrived on the fri to stay for the bank holiday weekend 29th to 31st Aug seen no one until the Sat night when a gentleman came round to check who was there. Our stay was marred by an infestation of hornets /wasps we in formed the site warden about this replied there must be a nest somewhere we will not be returning again site standards have slipped grass could do with cutting up to the wall behind the vans and the toilet and shower neeed up grading .

Comment from Community Manager:

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review and we appreciate your feedback. The CL owner has contacted us as she was very concerned to hear you felt there was an infestation of wasps and hornets on site and she was not aware of this situation. When reported to the site owner’s son he immediately checked the site with you but no wasps or hornets were found or had been spotted that day. They inspect the site regularly (on a daily basis) and have thoroughly checked all areas near to the site, but there has been no evidence found of any nests, wasps or hornets, and they have not received any other reports about this from other members. As such they are very sorry that this was a problem for you and would like to assure you if they had been able to find any wasps/hornets or could locate a nest they would have dealt with this as a matter of urgency. They would also like to assure you that they regularly attend to the grass but if you ever have any concerns please do come and speak to them as they will always do their utmost to help wherever they can as they want members to have the best possible time on site. I hope this helps to address your concerns regarding their lovely site in the beautiful Shropshire countryside and once again thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

A beautiful site, spoilt by poor customer service.

The CL is in a beautiful area with lots to seelocally including   the Iron bridge museums and  several National Trust properties. 4 pitches have 3 paving slabs each side for the caravan wheels, not exactly hard standing but helpful. We found there was quite a lot of noise from the barns behind the site, even on Sunday. The toilet and shower were a bit basic with only cold water to the wash basin and an incredibly stiff button to push to make the shower work. Not exactly twinkly clean either. The notice suggesting you text 'clean' to the given mobile number wasn't much use either, as there is no O2 coverage in the area! It really could do with checking/ cleaning more regularly.  There is definitely no WiFi, though the Caravan Club website states otherwise and it would have been helpful if Lesley had explained this when she arrived, very promptly to collect our money.   Could be a lovely site with  proper attention to detail but this was sadly lacking from our experience.
