Stunning Shropshire

Found Weston Farm with no problem. Although e-mail confirmation indicated that we should pitch and then someone would come and see us, it was 3 days later we met anyone. No problem for us as we found all the facilities. Site backs onto a Barn/workshop wall and has open views over lovely countryside. Toilet/shower was kept clean but the facility could do with a little updating. The site is ideally located to visit all the attractions. There are a variety of birds around the site. The facilities' listing indicates Wi-Fi access, if there we didn't find it. If in the area we would return

A lovely peaceful location

We had six days at Weston House in May and would have loved to stay longer but they were fully booked over the bank holiday. A pleasant, quiet site in a lovely rural setting, the facilities are not extensive but are adequate. The pitches have been improved and now have partial paving. There was some noise from agricultural traffic late into the evening, apparently it is the silage season, so the farmers were making hay whilst the sun (or moon) shone. A perfect location for star gazers or bird watchers, I wish I'd taken binoculars with me. There were nightly visits by a Barn Owl, but sadly we managed to miss it. Maybe next time. Our dog loved romping in the meadow and we had the option of walking him in the adjacent fields and woodland. Perfectly located to take in the numerous attractions that Shropshire has to offer, we really could have done with the extra few days, there is just so much to see and do. Mobile phone coverage is patchy and there was no 3g signal at all, so on site wifi would have been a benefit. TV and satellite signals were fine. The proximity of a metal barn and the overhead power cables played havoc with my compass, so satellite set up was a bit more involved than usual (from pitch 1, aim for the left hand oak tree in the next field). We really enjoyed our stay and would happily use this site again.

A good place to stay

We spent 3 nights here. It had rained before we arrived, but had no trouble getting onto our pitch. Hook up, waste disposal fine, shower was one of the best electric showers we've ever used - and shower gel! I have mobility problems, but the shower room was big enough to get a wheelchair in. It would have been useful to if there had been a grab rail in the shower, but I used my Rollator to sit on in the shower, so was OK. A hayfield was in front of the pitches , but they had mowed a path through it so dogs could be walked and to give access onto the fields beyond. We hope to have a return visit. Peaceful site with beautiful views

We stayed at Weston House CL site for a week over the October/November half term and it is a lovely quiet site. We were greeted on arrival by the owners friend, who was mowing the grass, she advised us which where the best pitches to use in case the weather was bad but my husband choose to ignore this because he wanted to use the barn as shelter in case of high winds (we haven’t had a very good year weather wise) so we pitched on number 5 out of the 6 available pitches. This pitch was probably on the most slope too, so we had to use several blocks to get level. The large family shower room/toilet was clean and had plenty of hooks and a chair. This room also housed all the leaflets for days out and restaurants in the area. We were please the large shower wasn’t the push button type and was powerful, it is on a 5 minute timer though (this wasn’t a problem for us) they also supply body wash, toilet paper and paper towels/ soap for hands. The site is perfect for dog owners because not only do they have the 4 acre caravan field to walk around but the owners also allow walking on their other fields and there are public footpaths opposite. We really enjoyed the lovely views of the surrounding hills, watching the buzzards and listening to the owls, it is perfect for anyone who enjoys star gazing because there is no light on site at night and it’s in a small hamlet. I had 7 wonderful nights sleep whilst we stayed here, which isn’t usual for me whilst caravanning but it’s just so peaceful. The only disappointment for our family is the fact that from January the site will be adults only. This hasn’t been a good year weather wise for many sites and in March and July we had to be towed off of CL sites because of the mud/rain, but despite the rain we had towards the end of our week, the fact the site had some hardstanding meant we could leave the site unaided (pitch 4 had the best hardstanding) In all I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this site to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday but please remember it is a 5 pitch CL site with friendly owners who won’t impose on your stay, not a 5 star commercial site. I have photos of the lovely scenery if anyone’s interested.

Best in Summer

Just back from 4 days at this CL during half-term. Initial impression was a little dissappointing as all pitches are close together down the side of a barn (check out Google earth to see what I mean) - I had expected the advertised 4 acre field to be occupied by a maximum of 6 vans, instead we were all crammed in a strip with no more space than a "normal" CC site. On the plus side the welcome was warm, the price cheap, the electricity supply excellent, no extra charges for things like the shower and the shower area was quite large for a CL. The location is fairly convenient for days out (we did the Ironbridge museums - excellent!). There has been a lot of rain of late and so the site was muddy (not hardstandings as expected). In hindsight this would have been a better site in Summer! So in summary a good value CL with good facilities, a little cramped for our liking though...

Weekend Stay

We stayed at Weston House CL site the last weekend in June. We found it relatively easy to find but others staying that weekend didn't and drove past before they'd realised! We would recommend you take some levelling blocks as the site is quite sloping in places and the hard standing as advertised isn't the best. It doesn't look like the picture as they are letting the grass grow to attract wildlife to get the barn owls back but our dogs loved it! Lesley came over to introduce herself and check we were ok which was really nice as she didn't have to as we had already paid. The shower and toilet are clean and well kept - another minute on the timer for the shower would have been better - anybody old or disabled may have struggled to shower in the time allowed. Despite the weather we really enjoyed our stay and will go back again. Well recommended. Mick & Kerry
