Lovely quiet site

A great site with glorious views over surrounding countryside and fantastic views of the sunset while we were there. Our fridge broke down when we arrived on site, but Martin and Terri very kindly lent us a fridge to plug into the motorhome, which we really appreciated as it was a very hot week! The pitches are almost level and very quiet and peaceful. There is an easy walk on a bridleway and then beside the road to Sturminster Newton, where there are pubs and cafes as well as various shops including a newsagent, chemist, small supermarket, etc. We went to Bank House restaurant and had a very nice meal. Great service and friendly owners and staff. Road cycling is good on mostly quiet lanes (although slightly hilly) and the North Dorset Trailway runs from Sturminster Newton through Blandford Forum to Spetisbury. There are plenty of footpaths which are generally well-signposted, including the Hardy Way about 1km from the site. We will be back!

The name says it all

Super site with stunning panorama. The CL is located a couple of fields beyond the back of the farm. Peaceful. Footpath from the site takes you into the village itself with good dining/drinking options.or connects with other footpaths. Lots of local information provided in the box by the gate..

Name speaks for itself

A big thank you to Terri and Martin for our bank holiday weekend stay. Very friendly welcome and very helpful hosts. The site is ideally located for the view, lots of walks right from the site and a short stroll into Sturminster Newton with its shops, pubs and takeaways. Great for our dog as everywhere is extremely dog friendly. A site we will definitely return to. John, Jackie and Kaz

The perfect CL?

As others have said, the site definitely lives up to its name. Peaceful location away from any major roads. Nice walks from the site itself, and plenty more in the vicinity amongst the stunning North Dorset countryside. Can’t comment on the electric as we survived on solar, but the other facilities were in good order and easy to access. It was nice that Terri came to check in every now and again and answer any questions we had. We enjoyed watching the activity on a working farm and the displays put on by the kestrel over the adjacent field. A lovely place to get away from it all.

Lovely CL

This is a lovely site, the first thing we said when we got there was 'wow, what a view'! We found the site was easy to access off the A357, there are alot of lovely walks from the site (there is an information box, on site, which has leaflets about the walks around Sturminster Newton). Terri was really friendly and helpful. We found the electric meters were easy to use. Overall a really lovely site and we can't wait to stay there again.

Perfect

What a wonderful few days we had at What a View from 31st May- 4th June. The site certainly has the wow factor when you turn into it. You can see for miles. I enjoyed listening to the bird song and leaves rustling in the breeze. Lovely walks from site - stout boots required as some bridle ways are overgrown- which lead to beautiful countryside - Piddle wood was so tranquil- and picturesesque villages - Fiddleford with a good pub for a pit stop! What a View owners - we met Terri- were friendly and helpful, but equally allowed us to enjoy our break without being obtrusive. A truly wonderful site, would highly recommend!

Outstanding CL - stunning view and friendly welcome

What a View certainly deserves its name - the wide vista across Blackmore Vale is inspiring and fascinating, trying to work out which towns and villages can be seen. The location facing almost due west meant that for our week of glorious weather we had stunning sunsets every day. We felt very welcome, as Terri came to see us on arrival and twice more to check all was ok and to have a friendly chat. An innovation for this CL stay was the use of electricity meters which required £1 or £2 coins to be inserted, which Terri had explained before we arrived were a response to steeply rising costs. Because I booked before their installation, we were given coins at £2 per day. Having to check the meters regularly made us realise how much energy our appliances were using, and an extra task with this type of meter is having to check constantly that users are collecting a stock of coins, which are far less used in daily life now. The location of the CL is wonderful - Sturminster Newton is a very likeable small town - I enjoyed visiting the historic mill, and my wife was very impressed with Harts of Stur - while Sherborne and Shaftesbury are delightful towns. The proximity of the North Dorset Trailway was the first reason I chose this location, and we had a wonderful day cycling the 9 miles to Blandford, another attractive town, and visiting the restored Shillingstone station. As well as the Trailway, the many lovely local villages are accessible on quiet lanes. Kingston Lacy also made a very enjoyable day trip.

What a View

Well, the CL name is not wrong! Spectacular views, great hosts, lovely CL. It's a short walk to the town of Sturminster Newton or either of the two local pubs. This is on our list to return to.

Beautiful site with stunning views

Used this site for 2 weeks while house hunting in the area. The site is very aptly named the view is amazing. There’s an EHU each pitch and a there’s a second tap which means it’s easy to use a hose for topping up. The owner allocates a pitch when you book, so when you arrive you know where to set up. Terri pops around most evenings to welcome new arrival. Will definitely use again if our house falls through.
