Worked well to walk local parts of Hadrians Wall

Visited early September. The track to CL is signed Barron House from road. Confirmed with owner you are able to walk further up the track over railway to join public footpath. Also able to access Hadrians Wall path by turning right on road from CL and walking 200m to a signed permissive footpath to Chapel House Farm (care needed on road due to traffic on bend/brow of hill). Eggs for sale at CL entrance via honesty box £1.50/half dozen CL not busy, paid £20pn incl EHU. Grey waste to edge line of CL. Quiet location, train track nearby not intrusive as over brow of hill. Slightly sloping - more so on right hand side. Well placed for walking Hadrians Wall path. would have liked a no EHU £ option. Would return

What more could you want

Insttuctions to find were excellent. Nice site, grass cut and collected which is great. Quiet, well placed for Hadrians Wall, lovely countryside. A bit of slope but nothing out of the ordinary.

Very hilly spot

We found the cl .Very difficult to pitch as very hilly ,some extra bits of wood would have been useful if owner left them ..nothing else to say .

Quiet site

Lovely site and great area, but as we arrived it was raining cats & dogs their is a C.L. sign at the end of the track with a different property name near it , so I had to leave the caravan on the road and go walking down to see if we where at the right place, if you are on the right of the field you will need big levelling blocks as the field goes up a lot

Great wee CL

Stayed here for 3 nights in July 2022. Very easy access to an immaculately kept site. Although not the hugest of CLs the units are well spaced out. The information hut is a brilliant with information on the myriad of attractions in easy reach from the site. The site is quite sloping in places so bring some wood for the steadies. Would recommend this site and would happily make a return visit.

Beautifully situated CL

This CL is in the heart of farmland and is great. Pitches do slope a little but nothing that cannot be easily sorted with normal ramps and chocks. Well placed for visiting Hadrians Wall and well supplied with walks. Kielder Water is only a short drive away and well worth the trip. The owner, who lives next to the field, called frequently to empty the bins, top up the eggs and generally check all was OK. The elsan point and water tap area are all clean and tidy as was the bin and recycling area. A lovely site well worth a visit.

Quiet, peaceful and enjoyable CL

At the risk of repeating myself, my review title summarises this site - Quiet, peaceful and enjoyable CL, The site does have some sloping pitches, but they are not difficult IMHO or excessive like some reviews imply, and the other important aspect is that it is relatively spacious. I also like the fact that the owner is not an obsessive grass mower like some site owners. Friendly down to earth gent too. Easy payment arrangements and thoughtful practical touches at the water supply and the toilet emptying point make CL life easy. The views aren't great unless you enjoy tractors and farm kit on one horizon ( I do), but it is wonderfully placed for walking the central area of Hadrian's wall and all around it. Loved the CLand I will return again.

Well worth a visit

We have stayed here twice in the last two weeks and found it to be ideal for us. The grandchildren have had space to play without being too near to other users. The first visit they made friends with others in vans and the second time played with 2 lovely local children. It is a sloping site but chocks are made available and siting is not as difficult as implied by others. It is clean and well cared for and there is space to allow privacy. All facilities are kept in great order. Lots to do near by. Altogether we have loved the time here and it will be on our list of places to go not too far from home.

Lovely and peaceful

Lovely and peaceful site which is well kept with plenty of space between pitches. Some of the pitches are a bit slopping and wood chocks are essential this is one I would revisit.

Not as sloping as people say it is.

Having read some of the reviews about how badly this site sloped, we came prepared to use all of our vast array of levelling equipment. But on arrival, we were pleasantly surprised. The site was completely empty, so we had the choice of any of the 6 pitches. Pitch 1 is the one we chose, which is almost completely level. Pitch 2 is almost level as well. Granted, the rest of the pitches do slope, but nothing like some of the reviews make out. We have been on sites that are a lot worse, and always managed to get our caravan completely level. If people want a billiard table pitch, perhaps they should stick to club sites. As some of the other reviews mentioned, we didn't see the owner, but this was not a problem. All amenities are clearly labelled, just pop your payment in an envelope and leave it in the shed by the entrance. The ground was not at all hard, our awning pegs were easy to get in. Very peaceful if you don't mind countryside sounds i.e. sheep bleating. Buy that's why we like caravanning. Good access to lots of attractions, a lot related to Roman history, and more tea rooms close by than there are days in the week. All in all, a gem of a site. We will definitely be back.
